Tomorrow (June 7th) a Canadian company called J R Wireless will launch a mobile phone service that will warn drivers of speed traps in Ontario and Quebec. The service will use text messages to notify drivers. Speed trap alerts to mobile phones have been available in numerous European countries for more than five years. The program will begin in the two provinces, but could expand to the entire country if successful. So far, there’s no word if the service could come across the border to the United States. Alerts will cost 50 cents per text message. The Leftlane Perspective: Alternatively, you could become a highway traffic officer and drive you Ferrari however you like.
