Drifting is not the car, it is the driver. I could drift my wife’s AWD Subaru Legacy wagon when the tires got a little bald, and that was 192hp and an automatic, to boot. Just charge at the apex, aim wide, snap the wheel around and bury the pedal, lightly pressing the brake to tuck it back in again. I left the auto transmission in “2″ the whole time, pegging redline. And the differentials and transmission survived just fine…

I actually saw one of these in person for the first time today…a little big for my tastes (I felt the same way when I first saw the camaro concept) but it looks sick…600 plus horsepower would make an already fast car in to a true beast

You’re right it isn’t. In fact it’s slower, and more unstable instead of going through the apex…

also beatusmongous made my point (haha not like I have any experience drifing whatsoever) but I did know a friend of my old man’s who had an old Celica, MR2, and a MKIII Supra that he slightly modified but man could drift the shit out of those in an empty parking lot or go “rally style” down a dirt road.

I used to drift for fun in a 1976 Datsun 280Z. No special suspension, and only a bit over 200HP at the time. It’s not tough to do in a RWD vehicle. 630HP would be tough to drift because it would be easy to spin, but it for sure wouldn’t be hard to push the rear end out. But the fastest way through a corner isn’t by drifting, despite what the movies and video games say (even though it is fun). You’ll never see an F1 class racer drift, and believe me, they can if they want to.

yeah, almost any RWD car can be used in drifting. When you started seeing it with AE86 Carollas, 240sx, etc (and being mostly a Japanese sport until just recently) Now there are Chargers, Vipers, Mustangs, and Team Red Bull uses a 440hp Pontiac Solstice GXP… It can be done with the Challenger.

630hp??? Not bad, what Mopar needs to due is shave off like 300-500lbs as well, it’s still a boat, but a faster one at that. And it’ll do well at the drags, It’d be sweet to see one.

Jigs- But the mustangs, vipers, make of fact all the cars in the formula D have be modified to more out power out put. As well as the suspension have been modified for more negitave camber and large turning radius. It’s by far not stock

Hummm have u seen vipers and chargers drifting? never though id see that day but oo look they won countless times. that means they can turn if they can drift. just needs sum fine tuning.
