More 2007 Honda CR-V spy shots

A new round of amateur spy shots of the 2007 Honda CR-V have surfaced online. The first images appeared yesterday — revealing the car’s new exterior for the first time. Both sets of images were taken in Vancouver, Canada. Gallery after the jump…

I may get flamed at for this but I do believe Spyker holds the throne for ugliest in production SUV. The Pontiac holds the ugliest of all time still.

I kinda of like the rear side window, makes it looks curvy without cutting into interior space. That C pillar design is on alot of cars anyway like the inifiniti FX.

I hate the way the grille rolls under itself into the smaller 3 bar grille. What were they thinking

That window design gives you two huge blind spots. But then, SUV drivers don’t tend to check too carefully before they barge into your lane anyway.

I’d repeat what I wrote yesterday about this crap but most of you have beat me to it.

I’ll just add that it was designed by two people or groups of people … the first is the typical Honda designer who is extremely conservative, the second is the guy who wants to go the direction of the new Civic, who is maybe a little spacey (I don’t refer to room).

A fight ensued and the final decision was to marry aspects of design … ALL WRONG.

How’s that? The window goes almost all the way back except for the top portion of it. Do you have to look up to the sky when you switch lanes?!

Actually, I think the Ssongyang Rodius is slightly uglier than the Actyon. To me, it looks like Honda took the RDX and added a front end designed by the people that did the Ridgeline and the new Civic. But then they realized that the squared-off back still looked too much like the RDX so they came up with that weird-ass D-pillar. That way the buyer that wants a CRV but wants good styling and power too will have to upgrade to the more expensive RDX.

MOST OF THE 2007 CRV NAYSAYERS PROBABLY WOULDN’T HAVE BOUGHT ONE REGARDLESS OF STYLE. WITH THIS ECLECTIC DESIGN, HONDA HAS POSITIONED ITSELF TO CUT INTO THE MARKETS OF SEVERAL SIMILARLY-SIZED SUVS COSTING MANY THOUSANDS MORE. IT HAS SMALL FLAT FRONT FENDERS (A NEW THING), AND THE FRONT FASCIA APPEARS TO BE DESIGNED TO SLIDE OVER THE LIGHTS IN LOW-SPEED COLLISIONS. IT MAY BE THAT THE PROMISED ‘BIG SURPRISE’ IS A MOTOR WITH SUBSTANTIALLY MORE HORSEPOWER THAN THE PRESENT 158. REGARDING THE SMALLER REAR WINDOW, THE BACK HEADRESTS IN THE PRESENT CR-VS BLOCKS VISION IN THAT AREA SUBSTANTIALLY, SO THAT WOULDN’T BE A NEW ISSUE.
KUDOS TO HONDA FOR GIVING US A SUPERIOR DESIGN THAT WE WILL GET USED TO MUCH FASTER THAN THE PRESENT ITERATION. ALSO, THANKS TO HONDA FOR MAKING THE SLOW UNVEILING OF THE 2007 AS CLOSE TO A SUSPENSEFUL BUMP-AND-GRIND AS CAN BE HAD IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY.
IF WHAT WE SEE IS WHAT WE GET, BUY IT OR COMPLAIN ELSEWHERE. ALL DESIGNS ARE COMPROMISES BUT THIS ONE CAN STAND ON ITS OWN.

I think it looks great compared to the present boxy thing Honda has presently, and the hatch is great for people constantly opening the hatch. I was surprised Toyota didn’t smarten up and get rid of that stupid wheel on the back when they did their new design.

This is not innovative enough to steal a significant proportion of sales from other manufacturers. I personally thing most of the SUVs on the market today look the same. With the Honda however you would probably get a better ride. There are some comments from UK folk here: http://www.2talkabout.com/honda

We may not like every curve and angle (do we ever on any car?)of the new CR-V, but Honda seems to have
coined a new penny in the world of small suvs/cuvs. From my point of view the alleged smile is a non-issue and the greenhouse line lacks the tangle of rear treatments found on other vehicles. Follow the flow of lines from the front to back and look at the design as a whole, not as a piece here and part there. To do that properly will require seeing one up close and personal, but my bet is that it will pass muster with flying colors. I’ll take mine in Whistler Silver – with a rear hitch and nerf step to ward off minor bumps – if that is still a concern at time of purchase.

If you’re willing to spend $20,000 on something, basing your decision purely on looks, you should just give your money to Chevy for ONSTAR. Honda doesn’t care if you like the look. It’s a Honda and it’ll sell.

A more sophisticated look, glad to see the outside mount spare tire is gone! Honda’s exterior designs have improved over the past few years and their engine designs and fuel efficiency can teach the US automakers something before they go bankrupt with their gas-guzzling monster SUVs. The new CRV will be yet another wake-up call.
