More Hertz Mustangs ship; one already takes a beating

06/19/2006, 2:15 PM

By admin

Everyone knows that once Shelby GT350-H Mustangs fall into the hands of Hertz customers, the vehicles will take a serious beating. But as a photo by Leftlane reader Zed shows, at least one new ‘Stang got banged around, and it hasn’t even been rented out yet. (The truck driver insists it left the Shelby factory this way.) Needless observations aside, it’s interesting to see more GT350s shipping out to Hertz facilities. As previously reported along with our last photo gallery, cars will be available for rent for $300/day plus $50/day insurance. The cars will see between 16,000 and 18,000 “rental” miles before they are sent back to Ford for distribution to selected dealers to sell to the general public. Gallery with rear-quarter-panel carnage after the jump…

I just dont get this whole idea. Try renting them in Europe where a Mustang might be exotic.

Is this for high school kids that want to impress a date?

Yeah, sign me up to buy one of these cars when they’re done renting it. Nothing getting a used rental. Much less a car that was marketed to be thrashed. $50/day insurance?? WTF.

I’ll pass.

Yes, they are crazy, but, sadly, some idiots will pay that much, just cuz it has the “Shelby” name and logs all over it.

#8: “Wake up and buy a Camaro?”

I think you are the one who needs to wake up. Maybe you should hold that brilliant thought until GM actually starts to MAKE THEM AGAIN…
