Everyone who is complaining, listen up! You have taken the time to post on a website about a car you say you hate. Why? Either you have too much time on your hands or this car compels you in some way. This is an awesome car with more power than before. I am trading my '04 in the day one of these puppies arrive. BTW. Those of you who got the G35; good luck on your trade-in. Infiniti has one of the worst resale values of foreign cars.
If you people knew anything, you would know that the current TL platform CANNOT accept an AWD system. You will all have to wait patiently for the full re-design for SH-AWD. And in regards to the G35..its smaller and overpriced..and don't forget flat out ugly. That front end never got any better.

After seeing the prototype at this year's car show, this one's a disappointment (see photo I took at the show below). That color combination is exceptional! I wholly agree that the wheels and the mirrors look out of place on this car. Overall, Honda/Acura copped out.

Like most have said, the upgrade in engine power is nice, but begs for a new drivetrain. SH-AWD would have been perfect, but let us be real - it's asking a bit much for mid-production-run.

On a positive note, this car remains a great car for the money. I'm just not sure that the Type-S is worth the $5-7K in price. I'll probably end up getting one at some point, I'm just not sure which one.

If only Acura built this car! Anyone producing this body kit????

Plastic surgery will not mask the true problem, "FWD". I don't recall the asking for extra lights, more exhaust ports and shinny pedals. Give me what I need, "RWD", so I can get what I want and deserve. better handeling and rims with a 4 inch lip!!! The TL only has 1 problem "FWD". I know this because I drive an 05.

The interior is not bad but not excellent, again probably being somewhat conservative for the consumer. It looks like the rear seats will be cramped for passengers, but overall the interior is good. NOT excellent, but good.
In my opinion I like the TL. I just don't like the fact it's FWD. Some cars like passenger cars are better with FWD, but performance oriented especially luxury or semi-luxury cars should have RWD. Honda knows the problem, just fix it. I would love to see this car in RWD or even better, AWD!
Sorry if I made a bunch of spelling mistakes I haven't had my coffee this morning :)

"As the owner of a 6 speed "regular" TL I see something on this type S I don't like - the dreaded PRNDL indicator on the gauges. I'm ready for something new since my lease will be up soon. Another TL is definitely not on my list."

Jay - the camerawork makes it appearn that only an anorexic midget would fit in back. Actually there's room for adults. Honda doesn't want to spend the $ to do a RWD platform, so we're outta luck. Any company cares about how many $ it keeps, not just sales.

Ed - Why not? I'm considering a 2004 -up TL 6M. While I'd prefer RWD or AWD I've found the repair bills with European cars make them a bad bet, at least for me. The Acura did pretty well in crash tests also, something I look hard at in anything under 4000lbs. G35 is RWD and thus a better performance car, but build quality and safety are less - the dummy's head bottoms out the airbag in tests. Yeah, sounds paranoid, but... I was just talking to an old friend whose older brother survived a head-on. Everyone in the other car died.

This car has fallen victim to Pontiacness

A bunch of body cladding, 4 exhaust pipes, and a bunch of gimmicky stuff, yet at heart its still a FWD honda platform for realtors

I'll have mine in black on black plz

P.S. For the person claiming that the G35 has more power, that is false. The G35 has 298 hp which HAVE NOT been tested using the NEW SAE standard. Just for reference, the TL had 270 and was downgraded to 258 with this standard. Im sure if they updated their testing procedures it would show something like 280-285

Few but nice changes in the 2007 model. But ugly wheel rims for the Type S.
Was anxiously waiting for its appearance in the showroom, but from what I saw on the internet, I guess I will be looking at other brands for my next purchase.

everyone complained that the first TL had too much power for FWD drop in that cool system from the RL. then you have something that is actually competitive in it's class.

wait wait let me clarify i love this car too but its hard to put ur money on it when i know i cant get it in rwd and the is350 the g35 the bmw 3 the merc-c hell even a dodge charger all offer it with equal power options and tech goodies.(not the charger of course but its still a hoot to drive) if honda ever gives this thing more drivetrain it will be a hands down winner until then there are just so many choices that are more appealing to the enthusiast in most of us

g35 owners need mental assistance why? because they choose to have a more powerful conservatively styled, proper wheel drive options with both rwd and attessa awd on demand (whose fuctions and heritage come right from the gt-r supercar). you have to buy the top of the line tl to get 286hp the g35 comes with that and more standard. and the 07 is getting 305. anyone who buys a tl instead of a g35 or bmw 3 series seems to be the ones who need that mental assistance if you basing it off pure numbers. the only thing this car has DEFINITELY over the g is its interior but its all subjective.

I think it looks good, and you can complain all you want about how it is FWD, but that won't change it to RWD. I think the next gen will have SH-AWD anyway, so its good to see Acura getting a more powerful TL in production.

Wait...
This is still going to be FWD right? Because if that's where the 286 hp V6 is going then it isn't worth all that power. A FWD vehicle maybe more efficient and give passengers more space, but with a powerful vehicle (especially in a luxury or close to luxury segment) it should be RWD or even better yet, AWD!
I like the car, the front is aggressive without being beyond conservative for your average consumer. It has an angular front that blends in with the rest of the car. I like the way the C pillar comes down, but it's probably a big blind spot.
The rear looks somewhat like a Mercedes especially from the angle view not enlarged (fourth picture down, first row).
