Yesterday, we cited an Automobilwoche report on the forthcoming Audi Q3 and Q5. We also noted that the report indicated the Volkswagen Golf SUV — the basis for the Q3 — had been delayed by a few months — from August 2007 to November of that year. It turns out the reason behind the delay is quite similar to the reason the company delayed its Eos hardtop convertible. According to Automobilwoche, quality concerns were the basis for both delays. Volkswagen ’s Wolfgang Bernhard said his company is emphasizing quality in an effort to build a reputation like that of Toyota , and avoid frequent recalls like those from Mercedes-Benz .
