With more than 18 million sales up for grabs every year, the Chinese auto market has become one of the most important battle grounds for the world’s major automakers. However, with that kind of sales volume there is also plenty of room for the ‘little guy’ to compete, with the UK’s Morgan looking to take full advantage of the world’s largest auto market.

Malvern, England-based Morgan Motor Company announced this week that it will be opening its first Chinese dealership. Appropriately named Malvern Morgan Cars, the new Morgan retail outlet will open its doors in Beijing.

Morgan’s V8 Roadster will be the first model to go on sale in China, followed by the company’s Aero, Eva GT and 3 Wheeler models.

Morgan plans to deliver about 1,500 cars in 2012, with China expected to account for 50 of those sales. Morgan’s vehicle’s are produced by hand at its UK headquarters, so its doubtful the Chinese market will have a dramatic effect on the company’s overall volume.
