Mosler Automotive has delivered its first street-legal production Mosler MT 900S supercar to a “prominent California film maker” in Anaheim, Ca. All previous units have been configured for motorsports competition.
“While we are not at liberty to divulge the identity of this noted film maker, he will let us state that he not only appreciates the MT900’s extroadinary design achievements, but he is also attracted to its extreme performance potential” said company founder Warren Mosler.
The MT 900s is a two-seat, V8-powered, 435 horsepower, mid-engined sports car weighing only 2,500 lbs. In third-party testing the car has recorded a number if impressive stats for acceleration, braking and handling, including a 0-60 mph time of 3.1 seconds. Full image after the jump…

First off, what is up with the way LLN handles large imbedded images? It is really annoying how, instead of scaling, they get their own scroll bars. Totally inelegant, annoying and (for the same company that does MacNN) UnMacLike.
Second- what design achievements? This thing is a low rent version of a McLaren F1.

I REALLY REALLY like it, I would LOVE to have one.. But I would like it to have about 525 HP instead, Because heck my 2003 Z06 vette (with a couple of minor mod(s)) is making 445hp. Yeah I know this car is about 450 or so pounds lighter than my vette however. 0 to 60 in 3.1 is DEFINETLY FAST so it sounds like they found a way to get all the 435 Hp to hook up to the road…..

The engine and some of its running gear come from a Corvette. However, the rest of the car was designed from the ground up by Mosler Automotive. The chassis is comprised of a lightweight (200lbs) carbon fiber/aluminum honeycomb tub, and chromemoly substructures for the engine cradle and suspension. The body is made of from carbon fiber. A complete car with fuel and fluids weighs about 2500 lbs.
Essentially, the car is a FIA/ALMS GT race car for the street. Mosler Automotive President, Warren Mosler, wanted to make a rear engined Corvette for road racing. That’s why there are strong ties to a Corvette. In fact, Mosler’s chief designer for the program worked on the C5. However, it’s not simple a corvette in which the engine was relocated to the rear.
Finally, some may be disappointed they chose to use the LS1 engine. However, it has proven to be a lightweight and reliable powerplant, and 450 HP is sufficient umph to push a 2500 lbs chassis. With the MT900 you’re getting Enzo/Carrera GT performance at less than Lamborghini Gallardo and Ferrari F430 prices. Plus, they will be very exclusive. I see a couple of 360s and Gallardos a week in my area. I hope this helps.

Oh! One last thing. Why do people compare any rear engined sports car to a McLaren F1? The MT900 does not look anything like the F1. Except that it has a rakish front end, and the engine in the rear.
If that is the case the F1 looks like a Lamborghini Muira. What about the Lola GT or Ford GT40, or the Ferrari GT250? These are all swoopy, curvy rear engined cars that came before the F1.
