In the last few days there have been two high-profile car accidents making headlines across the U.S. and Canada. The first involves a race between two young men in Toronto, both driving high-powerd Mercedes sedans. They were traveling side-by-side at speeds in excess of 140km/h (90mph) when cab driver Tahir Khan made a left turn in front of them. One of the cars struck the cab, and crushed it against a pole. The cab driver — a 46-year-old Pakistani man three days shy of becoming a Canadian citizen — was killed instantly, and now the two young men are facing jail time. South of the border, in Lake Butler, FL, seven children were killed when their car was crushed between a school bus and a transport truck. “It’s not describable. A whole chunk of our family is just gone,” Tina Mann said. “We’re all kind of numb, trying to figure out what happens next.”
