Nissan recently teased us with a sketch of its upcoming NV2500 Concept, but the cargo van may have hinted at more than just the future face of Nissan’s commercial lineup. Thanks to some gumshoe work, it appears as though Nissan could be moving in a new direction with its naming scheme.
According to PickupTrucks.com, in addition to the NV2500 name, Nissan also has the trademarks to NV1500 and NV3500. Assuming that NV stands for Nissan Van, it looks like Nissan will offer cargo vans in the half to one-ton segments.

But more interestingly, PickupTrucks uncovered several more Nissan trademarks. Nissan has trademarked the names NP1500 through NP5500, with the corresponding paperwork indicating that NP denotes a pickup truck. While Nissan is expected to produce heavy-duty trucks alongside its commercial vans, the NP1500 name seems to indicate a not-quite HD model. Could Nissan be planning a name switch for its full size Titian? We don’t know for sure, but it’s certainly possible.

Stay tuned as we’re sure to hear more on the NP1500 during the upcoming auto show season.
