New 2007 Mercedes CL-Class photo

05/16/2006, 4:51 PM

By admin

A new spy shot has emerged of the 2007 Mercedes CL-Class, which is due out later this year. The prototype pictured appears to have the least amount of camouflage seen to date. Unlike past test cars with thicker cladding, this vehicle has a just a thin layer of black tape covering some areas. For the first time, the character line that runs down the side of the car and into the taillights can be seen. We’ll keep you posted as more images surface. (Thanks to reader Anders for the tip!) Full shot after the jump…

Not bad, looks more muscular than the current CL. BTW, in case anyone wants to drive a nice car, with a very nice interior, check out a CL500…my friend has one and it is pure driving perfection*.

*luxury driving, don’t try driving it like it’s a 911 Turbo.

wow, oh, wow. I love the body line that rolls around from the side into the rear light assembly. Very, very nice. And I was just getting ready to purchase a CLK…maybe I should wait. You can see a lot of Vision/CLS influence, which is a very good thing.

I’m loving these new Mercedes. They’re so beautiful. They have been since the last gen S-Class debut. Keep getting better every introduction. I still don’t understand why normal manufacturers can’t make their cars look good, even if it involves raising the prices a couple hundred dollars.

I’ll be the first to admit, even though I’m a staunch anti-Merc man, I think perhaps this could be the first really hot CL. In my book a Benz is closer to a Chrysler or Cadillac than a BMW or an Audi – they have serious QC problems to sort out – their styling department is obviously quite tight at the moment though, the new S looks fabulous, better than the CLS in my opinion, and I can’t wait to see the new C either.

For me, there is really something “S-Type” about that rounded back end and rear window.

First, I want to see the whole car. Then I will say if it´s cute or not.

Isn’t the recent Formula 1 pace car a new Merc CL? I’m thinking that we’ve already seen this one out in the wild…

Yeah DaveO, I noticed the S-type jag in the back as well, if thats the S-type you were referring to.

That’s not a Bangle Butt. A BB has a trunk that sticks out passed the lights. The tail lights and trunk lid share a continuous line.
