BMW returning to Le Mans

BMW has confirmed it's making a long-awaited return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Munich-based company's next endurance racer will be based on the upcoming M8, and it will make its competition debut in late January 2018 at the Daytona 24 Hours.   


McLaren P1 LM sets new 'Ring record

The McLaren P1 LM has set a new Nurburgring record for street-legal cars. It lapped the grueling track in 6:43.22, which makes it a full nine seconds faster than the Lamborghini Huracan Performante.


Lotus could tune Volvo suspensions

Lotus and Volvo will soon be part of the same group. The Swedish brand is open to working with its new British sibling on suspension tuning. "I don't see any problem using their knowledge. I think it is pretty applicable all over the board," an engineer told Drive.   


Renault confirms manual transmission for Megane RS

Paris-based Renault has confirmed the new Megane RS will be available with both a manual transmission and a dual-clutch automatic. Packing about 300 horsepower, the brand's next hot hatch is also expected to get a four-wheel steering system.   


Rolls-Royce shows one-off Sweptail

Rolls-Royce has presented a one-off model at the Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance. Named Sweptail, the 1920s-inspired two-seater coupe was commissioned by a collector.   


BMW prices M4 GT4

BMW has announced pricing information for the track-only M4 GT4. Fully equipped and ready to race, the coupe starts at about $190,000. The car will be ready in time for the 2018 season.

Former Ford CEO Mark Fields' retirement deal is worth about $58 million, according to Driving. Unvested stock awards represent about half of that sum, while $17.5 million represents the 56-year old's retirement benefits.

Raj Nair will become the executive vice president of Ford North America starting on June 1st. His current roles are executive vice president of product development, and chief technical officer.

German tuner Oettinger has introduced a hot-rodded Volkswagen Golf GTI. The 2.0-liter turbo four has been completely rebuilt with strengthened components and tuned to pump out 380 horsepower. The extra power is complemented by a full body kit.
