Infiniti has given the sporty G37 Coupe (along with its siblings, the G37 Sedan and Convertible) a mid-cycle refresh for the latest model year, including cosmetic changes to the front and rear fascias, following an update to the interior for the previous model year.
For the latest model the headlights have become more angular and less bulbous than the previous model -- a look that's almost reminiscent of the original G35 coupe lamps. The grille has also been revised, and new fog lamp clusters look decidedly well integrated.
The G37 Coupe's refined platform and chassis includes an available advanced 4-Wheel Active Steer (4WAS) system, while braking and handling is targeted to be among the best in the luxury sport coupe class. The discs are 13 inches in diameter all-around.
The G37 Coupe is offered in a range of four models: G37 Coupe, G37 Coupe Journey, G37x Coupe AWD, G37 Coupe Sport 6MT and -- each equipped with a standard 3.7-liter VQ-series V6 with VVEL (for Variable Valve Event and Lift) rated at 330 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque.
Three models come with a standard, performance-oriented seven-speed automatic transmission with Drive Sport (DS) Mode, Downshift Rev Matching and available solid magnesium paddle shifters. The G37 Coupe Sport 6MT, however, comes exclusively with a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission.
Fuel economy is rated at 19/27 mpg and 17/25 for automatic and manual transmission models, respectively. The all-wheel-drive G37X returns 18/25 mpg.
For those seeking even more performance, both the Sport 6MT and Journey models can be equipped with the Sport Package which entails a more sport-tuned suspension, 14.7:1 sport-tuned steering, limited-slip, larger Sport Brakes with four-piston opposed front calipers and 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels wrapped in summer performance tires.
Available technological features include a touch-screen navigation -- newly improved with the latest refresh to include XM NavTraffic real-time traffic function and a 9.3-gigabyte Music Box hard drive, RearView Monitor and an 11-speaker Infiniti Studio on Wheels by Bose audio system with 24-bit Burr Brown DAC and 3-way door speaker arrays with 10-inch woofers.
Comfort and convenience features include standard Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, available Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS), wood trim and Intelligent Cruise Control with Preview Braking.
Also changed for the latest model year are new 18- and 19-inch wheel designs.
