Mid-engined Corvette a year away?

The Detroit show's press days have come and gone with no sight of the mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette, the industry's worst-kept secret. Now, the newest reports suggest the model won't break cover until next year's edition of the event.

Hyundai: i30 N is more fun than VW's GTI

The i30 N is more fun to drive than the Volkswagen GTI, according to Hyundai."With the N we clearly want to be more suitable for track driving than GTI and give it more character and most important thing, give it much, more fun to drive," the company told CarAdvice. That's fighting talk.

Cadillac XT4 coming to New York?

Cadillac will continue its model offensive by introducing the XT4 at this year's New York Auto Show. GM Authority reports the crossover will inaugurate the brand's next design language. The firm has confirmed it will show the XT4 this year but it hasn't revealed when yet.

2019 Volkswagen Jetta R rendered

Digital renderings show what the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta could look like if it receives the R treatment. 300 horsepower from a 2.0-liter turbo four and all-wheel drive would turn the sedan into a completely different animal. There's no indication it will happen, though.

AMG played key role in developing new G

Mercedes-AMG played a key role in developing the brand-new G-Class. "We did almost everything regarding the G-Wagen to make a proper base for our car. Suspension, adaptive dampers, the front axle, the rear axle was done by us, drivetrain, the shaft, knuckles. Everything," AMG boss Tobias Moers told Road & Track. The new model will, presumably, handle better than the outgoing SUV.

China-based GAC advertising at DTW

China-based GAC wants to begin selling cars in America before the end of 2019. The company is already starting the long process of establishing a reputation here. Detroit show attendees who flew out of DTW likely saw an ad for the GS8.

FCA: Jeep no longer for sale

Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles has ruled out selling the Jeep brand to a Chinese investor, Automotive News has learned. "We have no intention of breaking [the group] up and giving anything to the Chinese," Sergio Marchionne said in an interview.

Kia compares new Forte to Lamborghini Aventador

Someone on Kia's marketing team has a clever sense of humor. The company is highlighting the new Forte's confident side by comparing it to a Lamborghini Aventador. See for yourself how it stacks up against its unlikely Italian rival.   http://bit.ly/2mG9Jgc

Hyundai's N division not concerned with 'Ring times

Don't expect to see Hyundai's N division try to post jaw-dropping times on the 'Ring with cars like the Veloster N. "We don't care about lap times. If you're going for lap times, the aero settings are different, the suspension setting is different. It's faster for a professional driver, but it's not as enjoyable," the company told Road & Track.
