According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Chrysler is working on a new premium SUV. Like its former Aspen model, Chrysler's new luxury SUV will be based on the Dodge Durango. The Durango stopped production alongside the Aspen in 2009, but will rejoin the Dodge lineup later this year.
No other details were given, but the Chrysler SUV won't likely wear the Aspen badge. Chrysler is reportedly developing the new SUV under the Citadel nameplate.
Given the ute's platform mates - the Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee - are already in or close to arriving at dealerships, we suspect the Chrysler version won't be too far behind. As long as Chrysler doesn't put the brakes on the project, we could see a production version of the Cadillac Escalade rival sometime next year.
