New club lets drivers exchange exotics

We’ve all heard about exotic car clubs that own expensive cars and allow members to drive them for a few days a year, but a new club is offering a different approach that could cost individuals who already own an expensive car nothing at all. Scott Speed’s Squadra Piloti is a national club that connects local car enthusiasts with each other. For example, consider two members: Fred has a Ferrari F430 and would like to experience driving a Lamborghini Murcielago, among other cars; Larry, who lives nearby, has a Lamborghini Murcielago and would like to experience driving a Ferrari F430, among other cars. Squadra Piloti identifies Fred and Larry as a potential match and independently asks each about their car exchange preferences. Another possible scenario involves a cash exchange. Owners of underutilized exotics can essentially rent them out interest parties. Certainly an interesting idea for some of the high rollers out there…

Damn. Well now the rest of us want an exotic car even more than we did before, because now it means access to all the other exotics. Buying an exotic has never had so many benefits. I remember a day when people were satisfied with only one supercar….

Sounds like a swinger’s club for cars. Somewhat immoral, but all the raunchy fun that one would ever want.

maybe i’m wrong, but if you can afford a murcielago, i suspect you could afford an f430 as well.

It’s the way people have been financing yacht and plane purchase for years.

Here’s my thoughts on another kind of car sharing: http://downshift.blogspot.com/2006/04/sometimes-you-gotta-go-big.html.
