A new concept supercar called the Arash AF10 is set to debut at the British motor show in July. It will use the 550 hp 7.0 liter engine from the Corvette Z06, with a carbon fiber chassis, double-wishbone suspension, and a six-speed transmission. It will have a 0-60 time of under four seconds, and a top speed of over 200 mph. Should the car be produced, it will have a retail price of around £170,000, which would be well over $200,000 here in North America. Teaser sketches after the jump…

Rather have put the Mercedse AMG 6.2 ltr engine into it. More torque and horsepower and then have a little prestige with the engine brand. They could have even used the M5 engine.

anonymous when that amg and m5 engine can kill a ferrari then they might consider it, and they most likely chose the engine because it is very good but americans dont tend to get much out if it, watch british engineers fidle with it a little and get extra 50+ hp or so, and for people that say its ugly, thats how a super car should look like, you have to have a little laugh and love the weird styling, its not an ordinary ricer u drive, sorry. good example is the Pagani.

Wow, these guys have no immagination, they seem to have copied just about every heavy-hitter supercar in the world. I think this won’t make production if it looks like this, nobody would buy it just because of the fact that its a pure copycat’s car. And also, from a professional standpoint, I think the reason these guys used a chevy LS7 engine is because they are CHEAP and that means a whole lot more money in the pocket of the company that wants to sell this car. Everyone knows that the electronics break like hell in any Mercedes, but the engines are very reliable and just make more power for their weight than any american engine. I think this car is just an imagination of some arabic big farmer, it ain’t goin’ nowhere.

I think it is a good decision to go with the Z06 motor. Pushrod engines are GM’s speciality. They are actually lighter and more compact than equal displacement DOHC engines. Lots of torque, and very proven.
Also, they sound amazing.
GM makes some crappy shiat, but they do some things very well. Big pushrod V8s, air conditioning, and automatic transmissions. Ferrari is using their MagnaRide shock absorbers in the new 599 Fiorano.
I still will NEVER buy a complete car from them.

Here we go, Mr. Farboud is at it again. His stillborn supercar project hasn’t made a nice takeoff and now this….He should first turn his attention to improving his Farboud GTS- the build quality and refine the styling details to make it more appealing to buyers. I think the pushrod motor is considered because it is relatively cheap to acquire because GM builds it by the boatloads. Pushrods are nice for American cars but not to Euro-exotics. Here you are boasting hi-tech everything but the old engine. I think the better choice would be an upgraded Northstar V-8.

I would call it less expensive rather than cheap. I would prefer the Vette motor over the Northstar. I’ll bet if you drove both back to back, you would like the huge torquey pushrod over the Northstar. I know I would. The ZO6 is a race motor for the street.

I’m more concerned about how this is tied to the farboud gts. This “arash af10″ has a separate badge, and with the recent development of farboud sports cars with chris marsh and the redesign of the gts to transverse ford v6 yielding comments from arash about “how he wanted to build a race car for the road, and all the public wants is something pretty” or something to that effect. A similar carbon over steel structure with LS7 power (as compared to a turboed-to-hell v6) with even wilder looks might alienate the audience that demanded the perverting of his his goal into merely a noble-competitor

You retards better read up on the ‘push rod’ motor you are ripping on.
It’s not low tech like you are characterizing. It is fast, very strong ultra reliable and quite capable of running with the best of any manufacturers V8’s out there regardless of how many overhead cams they might have.

47 — got damn right! 7000 RPM, 7.0 ltr, 505 reliable hp. Remember when Roger Penske found a loophole in the rules that allowed for pushrod engines in the Indy 500? He walked away with a victory. Torque won that race. It was almost funny.
Those things work, and GM does this thing well. Jay Leno stuffs the GM crate motors in all his crazy cars.

500 hp from a 7.0liter V-8, very low horsepower per liter. If that Ls7 had DOHC multivalve heads, it would produce 800hp with no problem at all. Lets just stick the pushrods where they belong- to muscle cars because they are suitable for the car’s character. As for the Indy bragging rights, yeah right, he did took advantage of the additional torque of the additional displacement of the pushrods. Let him try using the same v-8s with similar capacities between an ohv and dohc then we’ll talk. If ohvs are the way they why in the world most open wheel racing series rely on the DOHC engine set-up? It is because the world has moved on and GM didn’t. That is the real cause of GM’s troubles nowadays.

That pushrod makes a great street motor, no?? I never said equal displacement DOHC vs OHV was the same. Because the engines are smaller and lighter, you can get more dispalcement in the same size package with an pushrod. They both have their advantages and disadvantages.
Ever drive a C6 Vette? I think you would be satisfied with the motor. GM actually decided that the pushrod design was the better powerplant for the halo sports car. They have a great DOHC motor with the Northstar, they could have modified one of those for Vette duty. I think the pushrod motor is lighter and has a lower center of gravity. Compare a Caddy XLR to a C6. Same chassis, different engine design.
That would be a good test for Car and Driver or Road & Track to do.
07/01, 2:13 PM

But the DOHC engines usually breathes better at high rpm and produces substantially more power. There is a reason on why the Corvette never sold in great numbers outside the North American market- because the Corvette is only tailored by GM to suit its home market. If the Corvette is to prove that it can go toe to toe with the established sports car makers not just pure speed but with applied tangible technology that people will appreciate. Gm needs to improve the build quality especially that interior more suitable for the Malibu, install a bored out Northstar V-8 to battle with AMG’s recent big displacement naturally aspirated V-8 and call it the new ZR1 Corvette.

funny how these pointless debates always boil down to “SOHC vs DOHC” or “USA vs Quality”… look ur missing the hilarious point of this story. This guy Arash inherited some untold billions or whatever, i think his family was big pharma or something. Anyways ferrari turned him down when he tried to buy an enzo, so in the style of many of you small minded LLN’s readers, he’s holding a grudge. Building a rip off Enzo, and then powering it by a GM engine is EFFING hilarious… thats just funny, and if you or i were billionares and got snubbed by ferrari, id be disappointed in you if you didnt do the same thing. Also rubs in the fact that the C5-r and C6-r’s RAPED the 575… Arash gets bonus points from me all the way around.

It is because at the end of the day although other cars can be faster than a Ferrari, they cannot touch it on its marque mystique and desirability. Given a choice of a Ferrari 575M or a Corvette Z06. Plus modern Ferraris do not have roof panels that come flying off when you drive fast. You yourself know what car you will eventually drive home. Arash is stupid with a billionaire ego. If he really wanted an Enzo, he could have been more patient because acquiring an Enzo is not an impossible dream. At the end of the day, several buyers chosen by Ferrari intends to buy an Enzo and selling it at a higher price.
