New Saab Performance Team video

07/27/2006, 7:23 PM

Back in June, we brought you a great amateur video of the Saab Performance Team performing some awesome stunts for a crowd in 2005. Saab has since released a new promotional video for the team — professional filmography and all. There is footage from inside the cockpit, providing a whole new perspective on what it looks like to perform such risky maneuvers. Video after the jump…

Drove my brother’s 05 9-3 Aero from LA to Sacramento and that thing is one smooth riding car. It’s got a very responsive turbo. Too bad it’s been bogged down with windows and sunroof malfunctions. Damm GM bean counters. They ruined the Saab brand with there cheapass parts.

Now THAT looks fun! Saabs have always looked great… too bad for the indifferent dealer experience.

they shift to reverse because of inertia when you do it from first the wheels are going forward theirs are going forward but when they spin the wheels start going in reverse from the weight of the body so they can throw it into reverse try it some time i do it with y stang

Saab is way past its prime. Even GM knows this which is why they allowed the 9-3 and 9-5 to lag in the market and then throw bandaids at it like the 9-2x and absolutley pathetic GMT-360 9-7x.

Put a fork in the brand. The resources can be put to better use than some aging failure.

So, 15 seconds of actual performance driving with 2 minutes of slow moving, artsy fluff…

How Sweedish.

#8 … exactly what I was going to say.

The amateur vid of the team was much better. Showed so much more action.

This video was an exercise in style over substance. And by style I don’t mean driving style.

SAAB and Performance are currently incompatible words. Those guys are good drivers though. Imagine how good they could be in BMWs.

Saab wouldn’t exist without GM’s knowledge and expertise. All you haters who buy BMW’s, Lexus, Acura’s, Mercedes, Audi’s would have been better served by the Swede speed that is Saab. Now head to your nearest Saab dealer and dump your overrated pile of **** on a fine Saab automobile or remain a f’n moron

#15.. my father has a 2004 saab 9-5. he’s had it for 2 years now and he has sworn not to buy a saab again. ’swedish’ cars are no good. (i should know, i live in sweden)

Maybe your father screwed up the car. Saabs don’t break because they are GM now.

If you guys don’t like GM, fine. But go post your anti-GM bable elsewhere. This is a GM enthusiasts site.

You know, people who don’t buy Asian or German garbage??? Saabs kick a$$, no BMW, Lexus, Acura, blahblahblah can match quality and durability of a Saab, especially now that they have kicka$$ GM backing them

Just for the record : GM ruined Saab. they infected the product with Opal DNA and took out the good tings that were Saab.

If GM had been smart they would have taken Saabs expertise in turbo-fours and FWD and saftey and used it through GM whee it would have applicable. Instead they put in Opal paltforms with the V6s and turned Subarus and Trailblazers into Saab rebodies.

My uncle had a real Saab, a 9000 Griffin sedan, that car was huge and the overachieving four pulled like a freight train. Nice car. Then came the GM years.

At least Ford made better use of its aquisition of Volvo.

Screw them Swede cars anyway. Deustchland uber Alles.

#18…Wrong! Saabs breaks now because of GM. Read my comments on #4. I also own a 2001 Saab 9-3 (pre-GM) model and that car has been running flawlessly for 5 years.

#18 –GM number1-4ever– “This is a GM enthusiasts site.”

Says who? says where?

“GM enthusiast” is like saying “American Idol enthusiast.”

GM number1-4ever is a moron. this is a general car site….and anyone who can possibly be “enthusiased” by GM clearly doesn’t know much about cars.

^Amen. If anything this site is FAR FROM a GM enthusiasts site. Which is a good thing since I’d much rather talk about real cars not the latest rental special
