They weren't that bad when they first came out, but they were definitely strung out for a year or two too long, and rebadged 16 times too many. There is a 2003 Envoy SLT in my family, it is a great SUV. The safety could be better, but it is very comfortable and the engine is great. I wish the transmission was geared better and it didn't feel so lumbering, though. I guess I'm just not a SUV person. The Acadia is leaps ahead of the previous SUV era.
