New Video: Chevy Camaro Concept

06/07/2006, 11:37 AM

By admin

A new video of the Chevrolet Camaro Concept from an event in Atlanta gives us a good sample of how this beast sounds. Since the concept is probably not constructed to take serious abuse (i.e. burnouts and slides), the driver was limited to revving the engine for spectators. Still, it sounds great. Seems a bit to long to me.
I’d give this the nod over the new Mustang (which I also like).

Wow, it sounds liek any numbe rof cars with a V8 and the video shows its amazing ability to reach 2 maybe even 3 miles per hour.

This is a concept car built to show what they would like to do. The GTO concept cars should remind all of us that what you see in the concept is not always what you will see when and IF it ever hits the production floor.

I look forward to a new Camaro. I am disapointed by the GTO because when I see one I am not even sure itsa GTO until I get close and even then its not a reminder of an American Muscle car. I found the body of the car to be unimpressive.

Take that for what its worth though Zi would never actually by any of them. I prefer Sport Sedans and 2 seaters sports cars.

Gosh, a concept car mated to a Chevy crate-engine with a cam so large it will never pass emissions, with and exhaust so loud it’ll never come out of dealership that way. We’re supposed to be excited by this, why?

I’m looking forward to seeing this in production, but what we see in this video will most likely far from the truth of the production car.

Wow, that thing sounds wicked… Look how much better it looks than all those other camaros in the video… GM did good on this one. They paid attention to details. I know it’s not the production version, but seeing this pretty much assures us it’s going to be built. I’m usually more of an import guy, but I really like this camaro. The imports dont really have anything to compare to this or the mustang.

hahahahhaha. I love how people are hating on the camaro’s image, especially when the Mustang has a more “fat wahoo from atlana” image than just about any other muscle car, save for a few Mopar offerings. As for this video, it really isnt a big deal, as my 73 Camaro sounded heavier than this. Build it, then we’ll talk.

How about enjoying it for what it is. A concept car with a high horsepower motor rumbling down the street. I wonder if there are more versions of this car out there, we already know about the transformers Camaro and the red mock up but it would be interesting if they have other copies made.

Number #4 Sorry, I called you a noob because of the way you worded your response. If you had said something like “it sounds like an LS7 with cam that has a tighter LSA that would have sounded more knowledgeable than a Z06 with a hot cam. Just to note the cam specs on the LS7 are pretty wild or OE specs (almost .600 lift), I hope they did a lot of metallurgical work on those valve springs, valves, and valve seats.

Just to note #18. You are making a comment that makes you sound like a noob as well. When you say “it has a large cam it makes it sound like you have no knowledge of cam timing. Do you consider the new LS7 cam large? Keep in mind there are lopy cams that have very little valve overlap (read: pass emissions). One example off the top of my head is the comp cams grind # NX264HR. Mild lift, duration, and a large LSA, but it still has a healthy lope.

I just get so sick of the guys that post stuff on here like they are experts, but have no knowledge on the stuff they are preaching (it really feels like its 90% of the posts). If you don’t know, don’t just make stuff up to sound cool.

I personaly love this concept and really hope they build it.

#25 (James): I am very experienced in modding cars. However, I specialize in Volkswagens and work with cams, timing, ignition mapping and fuel management programming. German 4 bangers are what I know, so V8s are new to me. You must have misinterpreted my original comment. What I meant was it sounds like a V8 with a hot cam, sort of how the LS7 sounds. I never said it had an LS7, but was merely comparing the two sounds based on hearing the Z06 in person. I know that the Z06 has a relatively hot cam for being factory, and thus is why I compared the camaro’s engine note to it…

Please don’t automatically assume people are noobs. Also, if people are noobs, don’t hate on them……you were there once too.

The crowd is so fat because they probably eat too much and do too little. But that’s who is being targeted, for the most part.

And it’ll be a joy to watch and listen as they complain when they have to fill ‘er up. I wonder what the gas price will be in ‘09?

Any V8 that sounds like that is worth something. That’s music to the soul. Are yalls’ comments aimed at all fat people or just Atlanta’s? Enough with the fat comments though, waist size doesn’t determine worth. Yall need to relax, I’m surprised those blacks didn’t try to steal the Camaro.

#33 Are you joking, and trying to perpetuate the stereotype that all Camaro owners are rednecks? I really hope so, which as a Camaro owner is sad, but I would prefer that over you actually being serious. We’ll chalk the y’alls up to bad grammar, but you condemn people’s comments on overweight people, and then proceed to make an extremely ignorant and racist comment about African Americans. If you don’t think that someone’s waist size determines their worth, how can you say that their color does? If you don’t have anything constructive to say, then keep your opinions to yourself.

That was an awesome video! The car sounds and looks absolutely bad aZZ! That car is sure to be a winner for Chevrolet and GM! But what’s the freakin deal? 2000 and freakin 9! The car will not come out till ‘09! Who can wait that long? There are going to be a few really cool cars dropping between now and then. The new Supra; The RX-7; The Challenger; The Skyline; The 450Z(V8 powered Z) and a few other cars I can’think of right now.

Yeah I know there are many people who can and will wait for the arrival of the Camaro. Now I’m just a freaking die hard car fanatic who loves cars, especially hot new sports cars. I don’t see what’s the holdup? I’m just anxious and excited for the Camaro to come out. Yeah I’ll buy something hot that comes out before the Camaro does, but i’m sure i’ll trade it in for the Camaro arrives.

My point in regards to why it’s taking so long is – The time is now! People want this car now!!! Look at how well Ford is doing with the Mustang which they are considering numerous variations of to be forthcoming to consumers between now and 2009. They will be able to offer many models ranging in horsepower’s between 300 h.p. and 500 h.p. and perhaps even beyond. Ford had to increase production of the Mustang to meet the demand of the consumer.

Regardless Chevrolet/GM will sell the heck out of the Camaro’s. The Z-28 and S.S. models of the new Camaro are going to rock!

The time is now to confirm and produce!

This car will be a disapointment like the ford mustang concept to production transformation. The Dodge challenger seems like a car ready for production with its already existing platform and engine and other parts from the LX so that would be the better car to go with.
