New Volkswagen coupe: Scirocco? Rivo? Corrado?

An artist’s rendering of a future Volkswagen coupe that circulated on several automotive forums last week is now on the cover of this week’s AutoCar. When the rendering first surfaced, little was known about the car. One report suggested Volkswagen would revive the “Scirocco” nameplate used for a previous coupe. Another report suggested the car would be named Rivo, a new name to Volkswagen. AutoCar brings a third possibility to the table for the 247hp coupe — the report suggests VW’s new coupe may be named “Corrado.” The Scirocco and Corrado were both Golf-based coupes. The Corrado was last sold in North America 1994.
