Eaton's new TVS series units put a lot of power in a compact package... it's much easier to install and manage than turbos... and you don't have to worry about wear nearly as much. Now the transmission, I dunno... how many gears does a car really need? Isn't a good ol' close ratio 6-speed enough? Once you get to 7 or 8 gears they have to invent some kind of computer program to shift the darn thing for you or all the drivers time would be spent rowing through the gears... not to mention how much a 7 or 8 speed tranny weighs. Are sports cars eventually going to turn into big-rigs with 16 forward gears and 3 reverses? I’ll give props to Audi for trying to use a blower. They're in the process of putting out a special edition TT that MotorTrend praised as being their best sportscar and considered it a good match for the cayman & 911. Also the R8 is a decent machine, along with the S4 & RS4 (all their S models really). I'm not even a big Audi fan, but they do make some decent enthusiast oriented cars.
