When Road and Track did the comparison between the M5 and the CTS-V, the Caddy was like .1 seconds faster around the track (Buttonwillow or Road America) which speaks volumes about the M5’s platform in comparison to the CTS-V.

I think you’ve got that switched around. Turbos do their best work at HIGHER and not LOWER rpms. Most of the turbo cars I’ve driven need to be kept revving high if you plan on winning any races.

But KERS is gone from F1! BMW recently announced that they drop KERS from their cars for the rest of the season. They will use gained time and resources to improve aerodynamics. There’s hardly anyone left using KERS, as those who did are at the bottom of the table.

Where do I begin? Let’s start by saying that BMW builds some of the greatest engines in the world. That’s not my opinion, that’s fact. Just look at the list of International Engine of the Year Awards and you see BMW all the time. When was the last time GM built an engine worthy of that title? Oh yeah, NEVER.

You don’t have to watch Transformers to see a Camaro get it’s ass kicked, just pick up an issue of Car & Driver and you’ll see the Mustang beats the new Camaro with 100 less HP. Not only does the new car come in 2nd place, it took GM almost 4 years to produce that result. How long will it take them to make something that can stand up to the competition across town or across the world?

NMOFGM, you really are the last diehard GM fan.

Just like the F1 drivers, will you have to lose some weight to make the KERS system more efficient

It’s good to see more F1 technology (albeit a brief bit of technology) going into the road cars. At least one manufacturer has made use of the money spent on such a project.

You know guys, I like NMOFGM. I actually missed him. Where have you been, you awesome bastard?!

Seriously, he writes some of the funniest stuff out there. Much better than most comedy films and TV. He’s the equivalent of a crazy KKK guy running around Manhattan-He can’t cause any trouble, and everyone but he knows he’s a joke.

As for actual stuff, it seems I’m the only person I know who prefers normally aspirated engines in my Bimmer. I love the fact that they can really wring power out of a straight six, and have been doing so for thirty years. The idea of a forced induction V6 in the next M3 is going too far, I think.
