But a bit of a recharge in an uncovered parking space for 8 hours may add range to the commute, which in turn would save gas. The added weight of the cells may offset that recharge, though. Family budget is my primary concern, and I think it is a concern among a lot of consumers in this day and age. However, keep in mind that as the years go buy, that Energy Cost figure will change, and as we start to get with it and make these things here in the US so that we don't have to import them, that number will change as well.
