NHL and Honda announce tie-up

10/06/2008, 1:15 PM

By Andrew Ganz

The National Hockey League and Honda have announced a partnership that will see the Japanese automaker’s products as the official vehicles of the NHL. The three year agreement will include television and Internet sponsorship as well as participation at NHL events like the All-Star Game across the United States and Canada.

Honda will gain signage at games and on television and Honda vehicles will be on display at select games across the country. It’s unclear how the partnership will affect Ford’s existing sponsorships with the NHL.

Honda has been involved with the NHL since 2006 when it became the presenting sponsor of the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, home of the Anaheim Ducks team.

“Ironic” comes to mind… for me, at least.

I would think they’d want baseball or something. Hockey just doesn’t seem like a Honda thing. Nor does a hockey player seem like a Honda buyer. But I guess I’m wrong.

‘Hona’ is how they pronounce ‘Honda’ in the Northeast, as in:
“Yo Tony! Naice new cah’! Zi’ta Hona?

Well, the Civic has been the best selling car in Canada for some time now. It sort of makes sense. And they’re actually not all that bad in the snow (along with every other small FWD car with decent tires).

Translation: In Soviet Russia, Honda and NHL tie up YOU!!!

Lets see this is what my translation thingy came up with:

Logo uppercase letters HONDA + NHL = LOL was designed in the red. Do not use the logo from the end of 2000 on the scene as a representation of the company’s name, Honda’s CI (corporate identity) is based on VI (visual identity), Honda’s own “Name of communication” and was referred to the use of notation. This notation in the alphabet, “Honda” and in being actively involved in Honda’s own use, as well as the handling of the media company’s name to “Honda” or “Honda” has requested the notation [2]. In French and Spanish, do not pronounce the H beginning, “Honda” and it is called.

Whatever the hell this is supposed to mean.

How the hell could a slant eyed jap even be able to see the hockey puck? This shoul be a canadian company sponsering the NHL. Japan should stick to sponsering hot dog eating contests.
