HemiRoadRunner: I couldn’t give a dead moose’s last sh!t what you do with the Cadillac, but the 307. You could take the heads from a 350 and the crank and switch it with the 307’s and make a nice 4 bolt 3……. O wait you said it’s a 1987. Well then kill it. The Carbonated GM V8 was the best V8 and 1986 was the last year of the Carbonated V8. In 1987 GM changed to all Port-Fuel-Injection and they sometimes have a few problems.

^ I wish I had my Honda Pilot back. Even though it was very basic no frills vehicle, it was deadnuts reliable for the 135 thousand miles I owned it. Only thing I did was a belt tensioner in 2004 and a seat heater in 2006.

My Enclave had a new Camshaft and head gasket replaced by 4000 miles. That was enough for me.

It will be interesting to see if they ever come up with an explanation on this. Of course, idiots will see “investigation” and immediately start screaming about recalls. But how many Toyota & Honda investigations are going on right now? And how many vehicles are involved? I say this every time a story like this comes up – wait for the result before you rush to judgement.

And LOL: “I better not hear anyone ever bitch about Toyota anymore” what, all of a sudden all their problems don’t exist? Toyota still sucks!

So it finally came out of the bag… Yeah there was isolated incident on GM’s Milford Proving Grounds like a month ago where a brand new Escalade just went up in flames. It has the engineers baffled. You should see how many of these things they have on test with temperature gauges hooked up to every wire on these things…

81Z28: How about this, I just picked up a PLUSH 1987 Cadillac Fleetwood. It’s a HUMONGOUS mofo with a crappy 5.0 (307). I’m putting it in the demolition derby this August. I’ll try and see if I can blow it up for you.

1115, at this point it is an investigation based on 41 non-injury complaints, not a recall. Either way it ends up, this isn’t good news for GM’s reputation now that they are finally rebuilding people’s confidence.

Old GM is still more reliable then every car ever made. You could take my Z28 and redline it all day and it would still want more and same with old Jeep. When I was 16 my friend and I would go the junk yard and get old cars running again and then full the tank with some gas then put a brick on the pedal. Acura and Hondas would blow in a matter of minutes and Toyota 4Runners we would have to refuel the tank a few times, any old GM would never die and old Jeeps to would never die. There was the one jeep that kept going and I already put about $80 of gas in it so I just asked if I could take it then I sold it for $2000.
