The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation involving the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta TDI. The safety agency is probing the Jetta TDI after receiving reports of leaking fuel lines.

The NHTSA officially launched its investigation into the 2011 VW Jetta TDI on August 2 after receiving seven complaints of leaking fuel lines. The investigation covers about 40,000 2011 Jetta models equipped with VW’s 2.0L diesel engine.

According to the agency, the alleged leaking is occurring in the fuel line running to the #2 injector. Thanks to fuel injection pressure of up to 26,000psi, the system isn’t taking long to fail, with the reported incidents occurring on vehicles with between 2,470 and 7,764 miles.

The NHTSA is also looking into the 2011 Golf TDI after receive a single complaint of leaking fuel from the #2 injector.
