Beefcake, your 350zr is alright top down, but top up, nasty nasty. The only good looking roadsters with their tops on are those that began life as a roadster.

beefcake, this pic shows how the 350z has a single arc from front to rear…as you mentioned yourself, it’s flat, and the rear end is huge…i think the curves of the 370z go to hide the bulk a bit and the rear end of that car looks less noticeable than the 350z…it’s the back half of the 350z that looks awkward, imo, and the way the top is so small and planted on top of that singular arc…the curves of the 370z help integrate the top better too…

Price is too expensive when $44K can fetch you a G37s Coupe. Less weight but still as heavy as loading a fat chick in 370Z coupe’s passenger seat.

Meh… I don’t like the looks of the new 370Z or the Roadster that much. The butt on this car is too big, especially when looking at it from the side profile shot, it has a huge bottom! Now there is nothing I love more than a woman with a nice, plump, shapely bum but this car doesn’t have it.

The interior is nice but the long headrests looks weird and I still get annoyed Nissan took away the digital speedometer option.

Now everyone keeps saying the old 350Z Roadster, which I own one of… is awkward. I guess I don’t see it…. The only thing I don’t like about the 350Z Roadster is the overly flat and boring rear deck lid and trunk lid. Other than that I think it looks awesome with the same muscley flared wheel arches. Can someone explain to me what looks so awkward about the 350ZR?

^^Bosley, Weight savings was the exact reason, and Nissan also realized the stigma that goes with the hardtop roof sucking up all the space in the trunk. Judging by the looks of the car with the roof up, I think they did a great job.

^^JohnnyCanuck, sorry to hear about those difficult times from your youth. I can’t recall EVER experiencing anything quite like you described (“Yeah, right!” : Ed). Beatusmongous had it right: some art installation from the locals in San Jose area.

It is a nice looking car and def an improvement from the old 350Z Roadster. But I would still rather have a Z32 300ZX Turbo and take the T-Top off[If thats possible for the car, I saw it before].

Johnny, those “blue balls” are some weird decoration done by those Californian “artistic” types. Sorry about the painful reminders, but those painful experiences help us to appreciate the good ones, right?

I like the 370Z, and the roadster looks much better than the 350Z roadster did, in my opinion. The interior is really well done. Maybe some day…

Freaking amazing car, especially for the price. I would normally prefer a BMW in that price range, but this car makes me think twice about that!

i really like this thing…it’s on my “if i won a small lottery” list…and it certainly looks a lot better than the 350z which was a bit awkward, especially the convertible…i like the 370z roadster even better than the coupe…

as for the power hard top, i’m fine with the reduced weight and complexity of the soft top in this application…i don’t think it’s fair to say everybody is happy with a 2-seat car with a top that takes up the entire trunk…for example, in a g37 or even a pontiac g6 with the folding hard top, you can throw your golf clubs in the back seat to hit the range…without a back seat to suffice as some kind of storage, you’re just screwed with the top down…that’s why the miata’s design is for a power hard top is so nice – full hard top and zero trunk space reduction…

I was thinking of more like an Infiniti G27, a true 2-seater version of the G37, to compete with the Beemer Z4 or Porsche Boxster. Something less sedan-like than the G37 & less expensive as well.

Nissan Z is pure sport car. Soft top is used to save weight. If people want a hard top, they should get Infiniti G37 con.

I love it Mark- at least the great shots of the blue balls(?) and your fine finned friend and the ‘look-ma, those sure are some purdy trees up there’ (I just hope someone else was driving when you took that one). Unfortunately as for the real subject here… not so much. Well you know I’m more of a Mustang kind of guy so this can’t come as any big surprise.

Just what the heck are those blue things anyway? OK, other than a somewhat painful reminder of more than one early dating experience.

Well written as usual Mark, but why do you think Nissan didn’t come out with a folding hard-top option as so many competitors are doing? It does remove the use of the trunk when top is down, but people seem not to care….

Similarly, if this car is competing with the likes of the Beemer, Audi, etc. shouldn’t Nissan start badging it as an Infiniti and throw some more luxury into the party? Like Honda/Acura did with the Integra/RSX…..

When I saw pics of the first 350Z convertible, I nearly cringed because it just looked so out of place and rather tacky-looking.

While the 370Z Roadster is not what I’d call a looker, at least it doesn’t look as awkward as the old 350Z Roadster.
