‘NoName’, you’re more lost than you were … and your reading comprehension is ZERO … your first post here mentioned a parallel between Dodge and Nissan, I then speculated (without conclusion) that maybe (just maybe) there may be sister cars in the works (to follow up your parallel). That was my point. I couldn’t care less what or where or how much you’ve read that doesn’t pertain to what I mentioned, which was that the companies MAY work together (in China, in Mexico, in my ****ing backyard).

So, back to what I was saying … maybe you need to read adult material, not grade three required reading, and understand what transpired above … it’s all there for you to peruse at your leisure … maybe you’ll get it after the eleventh time, maybe not. Your ignorance is an entirely different subject that I have no time for … all of this has already gone over your head. Keep trying.

I said Chrysler was going to China, probably the Chinese auto company Chery. I am not judging you, I just think you see what you want to see instead of what is actually said, and not having thoroghly read what I post, you are ignorant of what I posted. You see, me, unlike you, go to other sites, and read what they say and all of them agree that Chrysler is going to keep building alliances with other cmpanies to build vehicles and get platforms, maybe you should read more then LLN.

It would be a stupid move because they already have a FWD sport coupe, the Altima Coupe. On top of that a fwd coupe aimed at RWD cars like the MX-5 Miata, and GM’s Kappa Cars, needs to have roughly the same equipment. A FWD coupe is going to tank about as fast as the Del Sol did.

I would still say that if NISSAN is going upscale with the 370Z, should consider dropping a V8 in as well, then building a less expensive RWD 240SX would be a fine concession.

Also, no one was laughing at the GT-R we were just in total disbelief over the performance aims and claims, and its awkward, actually repulsive, styling.

It doesn’t matter what Nissan does or doesn’t do, or even if it’s the right or wrong move. They are on a such big roll right now, whatever they do ends up being successfull.

Let’s not forget how many people (including many in this forum) laughed at the GT-R Supercar idea. We ain’t laughing now, are we?….

Nissan will further be screwing themselves if they think they can move the 370Z upscale (Yes I’m repeating myself). Right now I think they have themselves in a good little niche competing against the Mazda RX8, Honda S2000, Ford Mustang… etc (in the 29k-40k range).

Who’s going to pay 40k plus for a 330hp 370Z when the Shelby Mustang GT500, Dodge Challenger SRT8, and eventual Camaro SS are all going to be in the 400-500+ hp range, and some of them probably at the same price or undercutting that?

back before the C5 came out the Z was a great alternative and at some times better than the Corvette. But what happenned? It started costing more than the Corvette and then started getting in territory that it couldn’t compete in. Don’t do this again Nissan.

And c’mon you already have the Nissan Altima Coupe, that’s FWD. Bring us something we want. Not another FWD sports coupe!!!

Yeah I was thinking the same mayer_ray_nagin. That was basically what killed the Z towards the end of the 90’s. It got too expensive. So what’s the 370Z going to go upscale and compete against? The Corvette? The GT-R already does that. Stupid move Nissan.

I guess the Z car will no longer be a Mustang alternative. Seems like it’ll be moving out of that price range. Also, they say these fancy transmissions (7 speed dual clutch auto’s for example) are the thing of the future. Don’t some of you still like to shift on your own? And imagine the cost of fixing/replacing one of these, I wouldn’t even want to think about it.

Agreed that FWD makes no sense in the target market. Is it a cost issue? Maybe to hit a price point, they don’t want to adapte a RWD platform, so they’ll adapt the Altima, or some other FWD, platform? Who knows. Definitely disappointing news.

Front drive will always be the preferred layout, from here on out. For the vast majority of untrained drivers (US driver education does NOTHING to train you how to drive, only to obey traffic signals) FWD is the safest and best option. Enthusiasts like us tend to forget that for 90% of the people out there, a sports car is the LAST thing on earth they should be driving. Making a car FEEL sporty, but building in safety with understeer and limited torque, is what the car companies will continue to do. I’d love to see another 240sx as well, but ain’t gonna happen.

It is hard to with the Mazda MX-5 (Miata), it is a great car for a 2 seater roadster, great price, handling and engine, not to menton lightweight. The 370Z should be faster and lighter, but I would wonder if it might steal sales from the Infiniti G37 coupe.

Demon was defined as a 2 seater; 240 was looking like a coupe, smaller version of Altima coupe. More interesting is “competition” between Z370 and Infinity coupe: they seem to be gunning for the same customer.
