Motorweek had articles about E85 back in 2003. Why is it being marketed JUST NOW as some miracle fuel alternative?

E85 is a red herring and the only reason car companies are immediately persuing it is because of the lack of having to sink money into new engine design. This is bascially non-news for the huge majority of people who don’t have a reliable supply of E85 fuel available. Forget E85 and bring on the diesels!!

e85 is a waste of time. We could never produce enough fuel for everyone to use it and the engines are not efficient enough.

I was going to **** on #1’s comment because I was confident that the comment wasn’t backed by fact. Turns out (per fueleconomy.gov) he is right. the sierra gets better mileage and lower emissions. still wouldn’t buy either though.
