I find it lame and pathetically hilarious when some people on here try to prop up each other's comments when they find it in line with their own views.

Oh and I'm sorry oldman420 but did you say the vette interiors are of the highest quality anyone can buy? I like the cluster panel but other than that its like a plastic bathtub in there. Our vette has the same radio and gear graphic text and color that we have on our tahoe and the lock and mirror swithces dont look very unsimilar either. Oh well, ignorance is bliss.

I don't know why you guys are flaming Blakkarr the way you are. As an ousider looking in he is the only reason i read this entire thread because of his facts and intelligent rebutle. Anyway, yes the R35 is a beast to say the least and everyone is excited to see them on the road. On the other hand my roomate works at a Nissan dealership that deal with the R35 and he recently took a course on serciving these vehicles, and lets just say that for the maintenance costs on these vehicles you may as well own a ferrari. I have always been a skyline fan being an importowner as well, and i am very excited to go on a pdi test ride in one of these babies but like everyone else on this site havn't seen it in true action, only from a far car shows, net, or in a magazine. On the other hand working at a GM dealership as a partsman I have gone in quite a few rips in Z06s and let me tell you that it is quite the impressive vehicle, they do have slight traction and handling problems but quality wise (interior & exterior) they are of the highest quality for a vehicle anyone can walk into a dealership and buy. Like Blakkarr says they are the industry standard becuase they ARE the sports vehicle which currently is the best bang for your buck. So before you guys start flaming me keep in mind that I am not even trying to make a comparrison between these 2 vehicles I am simply trying to say that they are both beasts in differant ways, and similar ways and it will be intresting to see how they perform next to one another on the streets.

Blakkarr, can you make your posts a little longer. We like reading essays and long meaningless tirades. GT-R is a more practical car; just live with it. And I know this because we have owned 3 vettes - an 84, 99, and now an 07.

Wolven (#39),

Then why did you address me directly in #34? Don't pretend you didn't want a response if you go out of your way to to seek one. So don't tell me not to respond if you call me out. But be thankful, there are those who would and could respond to an open comment like yours and make you cry if you read their response.

I'm just a nice guy. Touchy but a nice guy.

As for the VETTE, It is the standard now and has been since the introduction of the C5. Like it or not. It, like the FORD GT-40 mkI-V, the McLaren F1, the Bugatti Veyron, and the Ferrari F40, is a car to which all others must aspire to even qualify.

The R35's best analog would be the Veyron as the other techno-beast, price not withstanding. So technically it's qualified for something else.

fuk-u-asshole (#38),

Child don't make your position less tenable with foul language.

I read that article as well. I am referring to this months Road and Track Shootout. That article did not even live up to the title. C6 Z06 compared to three other cars under constraints that when you actually read the article you could tell the writers were genuflecting to the R35 like a bunch of sycophants trying to clearly trying to sell rag to NISSAN fanboys. Of course, it came out on top. They were selling the book to you, chump.

The Road and Track article was written with direct input from actual race and performance drivers and they did not care about the obvious usefulness of a backseat, The Evo X has that and AWD, too, Price, the EXO X was the least expensive by almost 30 grand and the Aston martin cost more than 50 gran more than the next most expensive car.

This shootout was totally balanced with input but experienced drivers testing sports cars, not a bunch of hacks who can't honestly tell the difference between an I4 Camry and AMG Benz. "Oh the seats felt good, so I like it better."

The R&T shootout was about which was the better sports car and the GT-R35 was not it. Not that it wasn't close but I don't make this stuff up either, Punk.

And not it was not a "treat". It is a promise. Admin will be informed that your handle is inappropriate.

Fighting with mindless fanboys... It will never be over.

But that is not really an issue to me.

This thread is about NISSAN rolling out a new version of their most impressive car yet. For an endurance version I would have expected less power to preserve the engine. or a larger radiator to aid with cooling over the long haul.

I don't think it will change anything. The Vspec is the main show. But it will be for not if ACURA and Lexus shut it down first.

fuk-u-asshole (#33), (we are going to have admin change you handle, punk)

You really should have read the ENTIRE article and not the parts that back your lame-brained arguments. The Gallardo won overall, the VIPER ACR took second, and the R35 (I am not confusing the AUDI R8) took third.

The Shootout involved 10 cars driven are four tracks but professional drivers. Each driver driving each car at each track.

How remarkable. An unbiased and far assessment of every car of interest within the comparison range. Tested as Sport cars and nothing else. Not whether it is more practical, or less expensive, or if it looks nicer (which the R8 was the winner for me), or how fast it can cut a hot lap at Nurburgring (which was NOT one of the venues).

And you know what. Your fantasy that the R35 is invincible was shattered.

I read the article end to end. That is how I know you are being less than truthful.

Wolven (#34),

Don't try the "let's see who can dump more". It's a very aggravating and useless game.

I would seriously doubt that the R35 and the C6 are any better than the other in terms of quality, but you would have to come back in 10 years and 100+K miles before you can make that argument. To make your argument you would have to pretend that DETROIT did not learn anything over the last 20+ years about building a quality automobile. Either that or you believe everything your parents tell you like a whipped little urchin.

That is a red herring and just points to how mindlessly comfortable some people are with being wrong. Go actually spend some time with a Current GM, FORD, or CHRYSLER and you will have to suck bile to keep ragging on DETROIT's quality.

Also you need to learn the difference between cheaper and less expensive. The C^ is not by anyone's standard a cheap car. Inexpensive as sports cars go yes. Cheap. Only a neophyte without a clue could make such a determination. And If I thought the R35 was not my "cup of tea" and I just preferred the CORVETTE, who in the sixth level of Hell are you to look down on me.

Next Practicality be damned! If you can foot for a $70K SPORTS car who gives a flip about a backseat. Also, I'll say it again in the same thread, the backseat of a GT-R35 is for show unless you are a small child or a midget. You buy a VETTE, and VIPER, a FERRARI, LAMBORGHINI, et al, and still need a back seat to haul the family, buy a BMW, CADILLAC, MERCEDES-BENZ, or what have you. You really have no concept of money. If you really need a backseat and can afford only one car... The R35 is among the last cars on your list.

Live you Playstation Dreams elsewhere.

Finally,
"in terms of those that say the zo6 is btter because of its price **** you can buy a $10k car and put $70k of mods on it and make it faster then pretty much anything." Your words...

That is generally the assessment of 75% of the Auto public perception of the GT-R. Most people who see the car for the first time think it is some freaked out G35. They thing the R35 is the cheap heap with $60K in mods. While those same people KNOW the CORVETTE is 100% a Racecar tamed for the streets.

My conclusion... You have NO idea what you are talking about. I said the DODGE VIPER ACR aced the R35, not the C6 Z06. Read first, would you. Worse; you have no idea how to articulate yourself. I mean could you mangle your words anymore. Some of use are over the age of inclusion.

and I WILL NEVER SAY THE GT-R35 IS THE GREATEST ANYTHING BECAUSE IT IS STILL JUST A CAR!

Blakkarr
not saying the GTR is the greatest car shit there a probably a 100 cars i would prefer just saying that all these guys that go "z06pwns!!! tug tug tug" are wrong sure the corvette is cheaper but why on earth if you could afford a more expensive car go for the cheaper option? when it comes down to it though car vs car gtr is more practical better made most likely more reliable etc. etc. in terms of those that say the zo6 is btter because of its price shit you can buy a $10k car and put $70k of mods on it and make it faster then pretty much anything.

in conclusion corvette = crap

not saying the GTR is the greatest car **** there a probably a 100 cars i would prefer just saying that all these guys that go “z06pwns!!! tug tug tug” are wrong sure the corvette is cheaper but why on earth if you could afford a more expensive car go for the cheaper option? when it comes down to it though car vs car gtr is more practical better made most likely more reliable etc. etc. in terms of those that say the zo6 is btter because of its price **** you can buy a $10k car and put $70k of mods on it and make it faster then pretty much anything.

in conclusion corvette = crap

car and driver reccently tested the competion and placed GT-R on top in it's august issue
1)gt-r
2)911 gt2
3)dodge viper acr (whatever the fuck it's called)
4)zo6 vette.

I'd take the GT-R over the Vette. Its more high tech and in line with the 21st century while the Vette just looks and feels old. The Vette deserves credit for its awesome power but I find the GT-R to be more appealing. And it has the back seat for the ladies ;)

Stinky007 (#24),

It's cool. Most people who talk smack usually don't have anything to say anyway.

Need4SSpeed (#29),

Interesting video. Too bad it was so dark and/or wasn't done from a "chase" car. But The R35 really can not make up for it's mass and lack of power from a rolling start. It couldn't even keep up despite the bad starts by the Vette.

I have to wonder if export C6 Z06s are much harder edged cars than US-spec machines sometimes. Hopefully the C7 Z06 will take a firmer, more race-oriented, handling stance than the C6. The power and weight are already there. Just handling remains to be addressed.

how the fuck can you say the VETTE has better interior quality. that interior wouldn't look out of place in a DAEWOO.
The GT-R is no audi inside but its better than VETTE

All you ricer GT-R fanboys get off the computer and go play Gran Turismo or watch your anime. The GT-R is a super awesome car but so is the ZR-1. Having seen the GT-R in person, I can say it is jaw-dropping awesome. But on the other hand, the interior quality is so-so at best. The plastic panels and trim pieces look as if they came straight out of a Sentra. As for the Vette, they've (GM) come a long way in terms of quality and the new Corvette is no exception. Again, you ignorant japanese car fanboys bashing the 'Vette for its "primitive" technology. You know nothing about cars so go home. The Corvette is one of the most technologically advanced sports cars of our time. For reference, go watch (I think it's Modern Marvels) TV program of how they build the Z06 Vette and you'll see the kind of technology that is put into this car.

In the end, as someone previously said here, it will come down to preference. I'll take the Vette. GT-R comes in at a close second--if only these two cars are offered.

why compare to the ZR1...the ZR1 is a piece of garbage...you seriously think putting that much horsepower in a car that can't handle it is a good thing!?!? Get off your corvette high horses and look at the stats.

Corvettes are overrated. I'd take a basemodel GT-R with crank windows and no power steering before i got behind the wheel of any corvette.

Dear "fuk-u-asshole", please do shut up!
The foul odor of pure fanboishness is making my nose hair want to skydive off my nose!
If you would take 2 seconds to re-read your "arguments" before posting them would save both you and us the embarrasment of actually trying to understand what the hell are you trying to say. You kick yourself in the bullocks so many times, reading your comments is like reading the Jackass scrip!
You could learn from Blakkarr, who managed to state his opinion without insults or making people angry! That means he's an adult who probably spent time arguing in real life with his friends over a beer or more. Think of blogs like bars: you can argue over a beer, use some foul words, but expect to get beaten and thrown out if you go over a line. So, dear mr "fuk-u-asshole", please gtfo of this bar, you are not welcome! LLN is not NissanFan.com...

P.S. Blakkarr, hope you don't mind I used you as a positive example ;)

Wolven (#16)

That the GT-R does all that it does and has a backseat, which those who actually drove the thing say is as much use as the one in the 911, meaning you are a small child or a midget to be comfortable in the back of a GT-R, is truly a feat, but not overly remarkable.

If AUDI, PORSCHE, and a half dozen other car makers around the world cared to, they could top the R35 in their sleep at the same price or less. No no car woodies or drooling here.

Having said that, as a sports car, the R35 is impressive but is lacking in almost everything else someone buying a sports car would want. Namely the feel, fun, and atmosphere of a race car without so much of the noise and hassle.

The R35 has been called by critics as a "robot looking for a soul", "so stable and confidence it is boring", "A video game but not in a good way", and other less than flattering things someone with deep pockets will not be to thrilled with...

BTW did I mention they all agree that the R35 is less than handsome and one crease better looking than ugly.

Surprisingly, in recent tests, and I'm stumped by this myself, The DODGE Viper SRT10 ACR aces the R35 handily. This was on several tracks over actual performance not just statistical numbers. In other words several PROFESSIONAL Race drivers drove several examples, THE 996-911 GT2, RS8, EVO X, AM VANTAGE C6 Z06, the VIPER ACR, and others, were tested in single day events to see which was best.

The overall winner was the The LAMBORGHINI Gallardo LP540 (? I can't recall the exact designation) the VIPER ACR taking second with R35 was third. It was no shocker that the C6 Z06 came up sixth, it was not the most aggressive machine going in and the ZR-1 was not available for the shootout.

AS for the ZR-1 being aced by the GT-R, that has not been shown. But I somehow doubt the R35 Vspec would actually beat the ZR-1. Cutting a hot lap around Nurburgring sounds cool but is actually quite useless to a racer NOT in Germany, deutschetouring1337.

Also Amuse's ECU crack doesn't really count for spit because the mod is not NISSAN source factory. It's cool but pointless.

Anyone who is able to afford an expensive car such as the ZR-1 or GT-R is probally not concerned about quality, as much as looks, style, and perfomance. I laugh every time an import humper brings up quality, because nowadays, people buy/lease cars every 6 months to a year. This isn't the 1900's anymore.

What you don't think the gen IV small block doesn't also have more potential. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/LSX-Block-makes-2000HP-on_168394.htm
It's all about the factory warranty. Nissan could do that on their own no problem, chevy could also add way more to that engine. They both have alot more access to performance engineering than the aftermarket. And the inside know how because they developed the drivetrain. But not every idiot who buys one knows how to handle it and risks the potential of destroyiong it on the factory's dollar.

Lets just put this too rest now......

#1 - Corvette needed 147 more HP to beat it by a few seconds

#2 - Amuse has cracked the ECU and has a 602.73 hp and 576.95 lb.-ft. powered GTR

Sorry i must have missed it but how long has the ZO6 been availiable to the public???? GT-R is a car that you can pick up shopping fit the family and still take most things on the street... all the corvette is good for is burnouts, which maybe cool but still pointless

Better interior... yeah. I can agree with you about that. But build quality isn't any better than you perceive it to be, and only the owners will probably know about interior quality as most people don't look at such a "nit picky" thing in such a car. I will tell you however, that the number of buttons on the GT-R are ridiculous. The Corvette may not have a high quality interior, but who cares? It doesn't di.ck around with a thousand different settings, it's just straight forward, American engineering.

If you'd like to talk about interior quality... what about fuel consumption? The GT-R gets 15-22. In terms of performance, it's just above the ZO6, which gets 16-26. Not only that, but the Z06 doesn't need a ridiculous "maintainence" (es) center specifically for the vehicle, has straight forward performance figures (Nissan's hp figures are higher than actual vehicle production figures, their Nurburgring laps aren't run stock, despite trying to break the stock record, etc.), and very, very delicate maintaining as recommended by Nissan.

And you know, Nissan has now begun to back away from that 7:29 figure they posted back a while ago. They've been advertising the run they did in dry, great conditions with street legal treaded tires, which was in 7:38. 12 seconds slower than the stock Vette'.

And hey, personally I think the Corvettes better looking, Much more simple, much more durable design and very sporty looking. The GT-R is pure Japanese design; and that's fine, but it doesn't have the curves or the appeal that a Corvette has. It just doesn't look "sporty".

Until one can drive both cars extensively, one should never say a particular car is better than another. From what I read, both are very different cars, and both are very good cars. I would prefer the GT-R due to looks and the fact that it has a back seat for my kids. I wouldn't mind having either car, though. I have driven the Vette, and it is a very nice car. GM really pays attention to the Vette; after all, it IS GM's icon car.

broadrun has no idea what he is talking about. the gt-r is not a "grocery getter" with a high hp engine dropped in it. it is a purpose built high performance road and track car.

if you're referring to previous gen skylines, then you're not even having the same conversation the rest of us are. the current gen skyline is the infiniti g37. it's platform is unrelated to the gt-r.
