In a bid to cut idling delivery truck emissions, Nissan has teamed up with FedEx to test out an all-electric version of its NV200 van.

An NV200 EV van prototype with FedEx Express logos will be used in London for a two months testing period, during which Nissan says it plans to capture data during the van’s rigorous use.

The test mirrors a similar trial run by FedEx with the Japan Post Service.

EVs aren’t new to FedEx, which has 43 EVs stationed in London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Memphis.

“Collaboration is part of our global vehicle strategy,” said Dennis Beal, Vice President of Global Vehicles for FedEx Express, in a statement released to members of the media. “Through collaboration we can exponentially improve and expedite what is possible. We value the opportunity Nissan has given us to provide experienced feedback and contribute to development of the best Nissan NV200 possible.”

The NV200 EV is similar to the van recently chosen by New York City to replace its fleet of taxicabs, although the yellow version will be powered by a more traditional gasoline engine.
