Since this laptime was BS from the get-go, a 5 second lap reduction shouldn’t be hard for them to fake.

There needs to be a third party which should conduct an inspection of the car, and take the time for said cars lap split, otherwise its pretty hard to believe something like this after the nissan/porsche timing fisaco

Maybe nobody has caught it yet but these upgrades are like a factory representation of the Series 1 GT-R going to the track. It has been sold out and tested etc etc, now the settings have been dialed in. A new suspension with a revised gearbox and some new tires plus 5hp; these are the aspects of a car that are changed during hot lap sessions at the track. Professional drivers take laps to dial in the suspension of a car and sometimes see if they need different tires and such, this is just taking it to the next level by actually replacing these parts with better ones instead of merely dialing them in. My point is that while I cannot predict a 5 second drop in the time, stuff like this is exactly what they need to do in order to drop the time by any substantial amount, not bolt on horsepower.

Oh no, Nissan has taken fanboi targeted hype to a whole new level! After declaring Nring times with no proof of the car’s “stockness”, now Nissan decided to cut the budget and simply declare Nring times without even running!
They probably ran the new configuration in Gran Turismo 5, so it must be legit, at least that’s what GTR fanbois say…

That’s the big issue right there. AWD. Even with the obvious power deficit, the advanced AWD system the GT-R35 is equipped with is clearly what makes all the difference.

Put it on the track with an ACR and a ZR1 and let the 3 of them go at it in a timed session similar to the way F1 cars qualify. The track’s so big chances are one car would never see the other but at least no one could say the conditions affected the results.

They should get rid of the Potenza RE0′s (even though Bridgestone makes a custom fit for the GTR). Motor Trend had a blowout while doing top speed testing. There are better tires out there. Or make the better Dunlop set standard from now on and offer a more extreme optional tire from Michelin or Continental.

Sounds reasonable to me. The Ring is a long lap. Just doing a tire upgrade, will make a huge difference–as evident by constant tire testing done at Tire Rack. You can see different brands of tires within the same class, whose differences are minor, makes big impact with lap times. Add in suspensions mods and horsepower revision, the claims are probably good.

Hey nissan, you should switch the stock valve stem caps on the tires with ones made of lighter plastic. You might be able to shave off another 10 seconds.
Porsche need not worry. At this rate, by next year Nissan’s new target will be McLaren’s MP4-24. LoL

4-5 seconds seems a lot from just those tweaks, but then again, it is coming from a nissan driver…
