Nissan hasn't even officially revealed the North American market version of its 2013 Sentra, but the Japanese automaker announced today that it is looking to hire an additional 1,000 workers to assemble the compact sedan in Mississippi.

With the new hires, Nissan will employ about 4,500 in Mississippi.

The Sentra will go into production during the last quarter of 2012 at Nissan's growing Canton, Mississippi, plant. Nissan also says it will transfer Xterra and Frontier production to Canton in November, to free up capacity at its Smryna, Tennessee, plant for other products.

Nissan will also build the 2013 Sentra for the North American market in Aguascalientes, Mexico, where it assembles the outgoing model.

Nissan has high hopes for its next Sentra, which the automaker has called a crucial entry into the burgeoning compact market. The automaker revealed the Chinese-market version of the four-door earlier this year, but it is still keeping any changes for the North American model a secret.
