By Drew Johnson

Nissan will boost its IT spending by $930 million over the next three years to streamline its operations, a new report finds. With the rising costs of raw materials, Nissan is planning on the new investment to maximize efficiency in its design and sales operations.

According to Automotive News, the core of the new system will be a next-generation computer-aided design platform. The new CAD will bolster engineer productivity by 20%, thanks to its easier operation and improved 3-D viewing.

The investment will also fund an upgrade to the company’s management systems in emerging markets. According to the newspaper Nikkei, the new management systems will be up and running later this year.

Overall, the investment should help Nissan to better produce vehicles to meet dealer orders.

Wow, a new CAD system will improve engineering productivity by 20%!

For the average dip**** engineer that means that instead of coming in at 9 and leaving at 3:30 they can now work 9 to 2:30 and take an even longer lunch.

Corporate management everywhere is sooooo fukkin stupid. These are the same fukkers that will slash benefits and pay and then be astonished when turnover shoots to 55% in 2 months, so they then bitch and moan that workers show no loyalty anymore.

They should invest that money in designing cars that aren’t ugly.

Hey livelyjay…do you invest in your own shortcomings by driving a good looking car? Nissan may be a lot of things but ugly is not one of them.

Don’t they have some deal with India to make cheap cars? Renault/Nissan will provide motors and trannies and some Indian outfit will provide software. If motor ceases there will be a good reason for it.
