Nissan just decided to make it under Infiniti brand in US after market studies showed that average American women cannot fit inside the vehicle do to expansion on their waist line. However the study also showed that trophy wifes and people rich enough to afford gym membership as lifestye would fit in the vehicle. (/sarcasm)

I also second the motion for those dumb enough to drive a smartfortwo on the freeway when really the only place or rather the safest places to drive one would be a small town out in the country. City Driving maybe but then again I am skeptical with the way &&&Holes drive

I like the Idea in an Ideal World; however, the problem with this in the US its not like Japan a homo genius society where courtesy and the rules of the road are followed strictly so this car will be perfect for the Japanese Market. On the other hand, The US is far different in the fact we have numerous crazy drivers who Drive Earth Mover Sized SUV who not only do not observe the rules of the road they expect you to look out for them so a car like this- IS Great- but its a moving death Trap with the way people drive in the US.

To try and sell that as an Infiniti would be stupid as hell. Sell it as a sub $15K Nissan, that I could see. People shopping for an Infiniti are the ones looking for a luxury car that is a bit more performance oriented than the other JP rivals and are also not willing to pay out the a$$ for a similar preforming german car. What part of that description says to you “sell me and expensive, tiny, econo-sh1tbox”?

It’s an interesting concept in that it solves certain problems – the relatively conventional doors on both sides is one problem with in-line vehicles like the Carver, VW’s 1-liter concept and the ECO mobile. But it combines certain attributes of the ECO machine with 4 wheels yet keeps the tilt, which is cool. The Carver looks fugly up front while the ECO’s retractable wheels are novel but impractical and fragile.

As it stands it’s advancing the art in tilting vehicles but it’s a tough sell outside markets which accept the micro car as standard fare.

I used to have a lot of fun building model cars. Half the fun was picking out which cool classic or hot rod to put together each time. This goofball “car” flies in the face of the toy industry for two reasons: First, who’d buy this poopy thing to replicate? Second, on a 1:24 scale, you’d need a freaking microscope to glue the parts together. Where can I buy a paint brush with one bristle?

There’s lots of theorizing about what we’ll all be driving in ten or twenty years. I hope most of it proves unprophetic, but my suggestion (and intention) is to get behind the wheel of as many cool rides as I can before the only place you can see real automotive genius is in a museum, and the only place you can drive it is in Fantasyland. (You know, that place where alsvw lives…)

I’d take Clark Griswold’s “Family Truckster” before I’d try to yoga my way into this can.

Nissan is usually pretty decent in the design area, but this is horrid. Sorry, Nissan, this thing looks like you took the worst of the G-Wiz and that VW tandem car and put them together.

The Carver is actually pretty cool, and it looks like a blast to drive. An EV Carver would be pretty sweet, to me. I’d try to buy one.

What the eff? Absolutely absurd to market this at an Infiniti dealer. “Come by and test drive a G37, M56, and wacky 1 or 2 seater EV-mobile” Just doesn’t work… Of course I don’t want to see it at a Nissan dealer either, but that’s were it belongs. Next to the Nissan Leaf or whatever it’s called.

@LWA. I remember watching a Top Gear review awhile back of an enclosed motorcycle that rotates from side to side on a gyroscope. If I can remember what it’s called or track down the episode I’ll post here.

long ago in the early-mid 80s there was a show about a vehicle kinda like this…1 seater, low slung, it might’ve been a trike (can’t remember) but the thing banked into turns and i thought that was the coolest thing ever…it wasn’t electric, of course, but i’ve been waiting for that concept to re-emerge with electric power…this thing does look a bit like a robotic vacuum, but i’m not averse to the concept of a 1 or 2 seat electric/hybrid small city vehicle…

the thing i remember from that show was that way the thing banked into turns, it was almost like you were flying the thing instead of driving…very cool for pilot-wannabe kids out there…

IF I was THAT serious about having a tiny EV city vehicle, and seeing as how the article claims this may end up as a single seater to meet safety regs I’d rather wait for an all electric motorcycle to hit my local dealers. I’d rather be on a bike than look like I’m on the set of a low budget sci fi movie.
