Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn announced Wednesday the Japanese automaker would bring over an optional diesel powertrain for the Nissan Maxima starting in 2010. Nissan will also expand its diesel offerings to Asia.
The diesel sourced from Nissan/Renault’s European division will be the first clean diesel Nissan has offered in the U.S. Clean diesel Nissan cars have been available in Europe for sometime now and Nissan believes they offer a competitive alternative to hybrid powertrains, which have been all the rage with environmentalists in the U.S. of late.
