Nissan NISMO 370Z headed to the ‘States this summer

01/02/2009, 5:06 PM

By Drew Johnson

Nissan is looking to keep the buzz alive on its recently debuted 370Z sports coupe and has announced that NISMO performance versions are indeed headed to the United States. The NISMO S-Tune 370Z will hit U.S. showrooms this June.

Details of the U.S.-spec NISMO S-Tune 370Z still remain a secret, but we already know of two NISMO 370Z models earmarked for the Japanese market – a base NISMO S-Tune Aero Package and the up-level NISMO S-Tune Performance Package.

Like the current 350Z NISMO package, the 370Z version will focus on overall performance rather than just focusing on engine modifications. The top level Performance Package will likely see a slight bump in power, but don’t expect much over the 340 horsepower mark.

Nissan failed to mention how much the NISMO package would add to the price of a 370Z, but we expect pricing information to be released closer to the car’s June launch.

If the regular, non-NISMO 370Z is not enough car for you, then you have a psychological problem.

BK2009 says the 370Z will accelerate to 60 mph in 2.1 seconds. Maybe 3.2 seconds when my fat ass and his mom shack up in it.

I’m wishing 400 Hp, but in reality: Big, big wing on the back, front fascias with fake CF lip, 200 pounds of body kit, gold painted brembo toe nails, rear diffuser, numbered edition badges, and free movie passes to Fast & Furious part 5.

The 370z is coming? I would not have guessed with all the commercials playing every 5 minutes during the football games.

Domestic humpers and bench racers aside, you’ve got to admit that this 370z is much more of an authentic sports car than the retro-cheese heavyweights (Mustang, Challenger, Camaro) being turned out by the Department of Irrelevancy at the Big Three.
