Six different models are available, in two- or four-wheel-drive. The vehile is powered by either a 266 horsepower V6 or a 310 horsepower V8. The V8 was added in response to consume demand, and it gives more engine power. With the V8, the Pathfinder can tow as much as 7,000 pounds. Both come standard with a five-speed automatic transmission.
Base models come with 16 inch wheels, roof rails, and seven-passenger seating. Optional equipment on up-level models include 17- or 18-inch wheels, a RearView Monitor, dual-zone climate control and a Bose audio system.
Following 2008 "facelift," the Pathfinder has a reworked front bumper and the doors have new rub strips. Wheels are usually 15 inches, but as noted above other sizes are available.
Inside, the controls on the dashboard are more refined. Optional are a navigation system, sound system, and back seat DVD entertainment system. There are side-impact airbags for the front and side curtain airbags optional. An electronic stability system is standard, as are all-disc antilock brakes and front head restraints.
