Nissan previews Geneva show lineup

02/02/2009, 6:29 PM

By Drew Johnson

Nissan may have skipped out on the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, but the Japanese automaker has a few things up its sleeve for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Nissan will use the March show to debut its Qazana concept car, the production version of the NV200 and the Euro-spec Cube.

Nissan has yet to release any images of the Qazana show car, but says the concept will challenge “what buyers of small five-door cars should expect.” We don’t exactly know what that means, but the concept will feature large wheelarches, “and a lower shape which gives a feeling of strength, while the upper body is dynamic, assertive and sporty.” Overall, it sounds like the Qazana will take its styling cues from the Infiniti FX.

The Nissan NV200 was first shown in concept-guise in 2007, but will be shown as a production model in Geneva. Designed as family transportation vehicle, the NV200 will feature three rows of seating and sliding side doors. Van and Combi versions of the NV200 are scheduled to debut at a later date.

The Nissan Cube has been on the Japanese market for several years now, but will make its European debut at the Geneva show. Following its March debut, the Cube will hit the European market in November. The Euro-spec Cube will be available with a 105 horsepower 1.5L diesel powerplant or a 1.6L gas engine making 110 horsepower.

Styling cues from the Infiniti FX might not necessarily be a good thing, now that they’ve effed up what was once a great design.

Good. Ghosn is obviously pissed about Fiat’s deal with Chrysler. At least he’s taking out his frustrations on a neutral country.

That Cube is one of the most pathetic excuses for an automobile I’ve ever seen.

A preview without pics or a preview? Only on LLN is this considered news.

I saw a Cube in person the other day. Looked OK actually. I didn’t want to throw things at it uncontrollably like I did the first time I saw the Scion xBox. As far as the concept car, Sounds like an Infiniti EX35 with a new grille. Whoopity doo.
