I had a tire get punctured while on the highway, but it didn't blow out. The TPMS let me know right away that the pressure was decreasing rapidly, and I pulled over and changed it. No rims were ruined and nobody was hurt. In this case, TPMS is a good thing. I'm glad my Nissan has a good TPMS system and that we don't have snow in Las Vegas. There is an advantage to TPMS. If the company or dealerships didn't treat them well in handling the recall or made them pay for the repair before there was a recall and wouldn't reimburse them (have lots of friend who encountered that) then that would be justification for never buying a brand.
