Just because a manufacturer doesn’t make a recall doesn’t mean there isn’t still a defect. Some brands can afford to step up and admit they’ve made a mistake because of their brand value. Others, like if you’ve ever seen “Fight Club” evaluate the cost of doing a recall vs. the probability and cost of a lawsuit, and if the first doesn’t exceed the second, they don’t announce it. You will never know. Honda could be holding back that V-TEC causes cancer. or Chevrolet that Pushrods can actually fly out of the block and through the windshield in the event of an accident. We all drive our vehicles at are at the mercy of our manufacturers.

I’d rather drive a Civic with holes in the doors the risk my life in a Sunfire or Cavalier of that vintage. The build quality on those things is appalling. Were they good cars? Sure, but the body gaps, both inside and out, are awful.

My sister had an ’08 Honda Civic whose side-impact airbags DID NOT DEPLOY IN A SIDE IMPACT CRASH! There is no excuse for that. You cannot write it off as “well it was a one in a million thing.” Safety equipment must work. There is no excuse for Hondas being so unsafe. After that, it would be nearly impossible for anyone in my family to buy a Honda again. The point? Honda is not infallible and sometimes there most important features fail.

I post FACTS chimp … three of my friends drive late 90s Civics, all have had wiper issues, two of the three have power window issues. Nothing to do with maintenance, dolt.
