Nissan North America has announced the recall of 26,398 2009 and 2010 model year Maxima and Altima sedans. The recall – issued jointly between Nissan and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration – is due to a potentially faulty suspension component.
According to the NHTSA, the recall is due to a potentially faulty upper front strut insulator. Due to a manufacturing defect, the strut insulator could crack, allowing the strut rod to come out of position. If this happens, vehicle stability could be affected, increasing the risk of crash.
Nissan dealers will replace both right and left front strut insulator on effected vehicles beginning October 5th.
No accident or injuries have been linked to the recall.
