"Engine sludge argument is BS!"
Poor, deluded little fluffer.

sharpie: you're right, but I'd rather go muff-diving than test-diving

"People are so mad at the Japanese for making better cars that they are looking for things to complain about."

If I were mad, it'd be at honda for making the worst car I ever owned.

" It’s highly unlikely that a person who buys a MB or I-------i is going to jump ship to Cadillac."

It's possible that a Datson owner might move up to a 'Lac. Or that a Benz owner might go to Caddy.
More likely though, is a Benz owner switching to BMW or re-upping with Benz

"The problem lies with GM not making a competitive product." What?

And they look better (you have admitted that)- I said one car looks better than another I think you are referring to the Outlooks vs. the current Honda Pilot. The Pilot gets a redesign next year. I would still buy the Pilot bc of the reliability factor of Honda vs.GM. Looks are subjective and better looking doesn’t always mean better. I would go for the Veracruz over the Outlooks anyhow

GM has less recalls in 07 that’s it Every other year they have had millions of recalls for everything from safety equipment, roofs flying off, power steering to faulty brakes You are harping on this year bc that is the only decent argument that you have. The year is not up yet.

Beat their biggest competitors from Japan AND Europe- The new CTS won a shootout on Edmunds wow! How so in what sales, resale & reliability? Is it selling more than the C class or G35 or 3 series??? If I were to compare the resale of the previous models which car is worth more? In ten years is the CTS worth more or more reliable or even more attractive? Valiant effort the CTS is nice but this comparison wont help anything. It has nothing to do with the price of rice. It’s highly unlikely that a person who buys a MB or Infiniti is going to jump ship to Cadillac.

Engine sludge comes from lack of maintence. People are so mad at the Japanese for making better cars that they are looking for things to complain about. My 800k argument from GM recalls was for a faulty braking system. That is serious. The problem lies with GM not making a competitive product

It's a recall of the gas filler TUBE! Now a recall of the engine or transmission! When I see a recall of rods coming through engine blocks, maybe then I will write a model off entirely! If you can't handle the simple fact that no car company is perfect, don't look now, you may have a heart attack if you check the TSB bulletin on YOUR car! And these GM vs. Toyota, American vs. Japanese claims are meritless. It did give me a few good laughs, so thank you for that.

Who still buy cars based on country of origin and brand? Different car companies are better at different market segments, so why would you limit your purchase to one car company or group them according to coutry of origin? Sure you have preference, but test-diving is believing!

"Even if they are not Honda Toyota still have more reliable more dependable cars with higher resale values that sell more which makes them SUPERIOR !" - so basically you are saying that it is IMPOSSIBLE for our car companies to ever beat Japan even though they have less recalls (which is an indication of better quality) and they look better (you have admitted that)?? WAKE UP YOU BIASED FUKK, GM makes better cars now and in some cases they beat their biggest competitors from Japan AND Europe. This is fun: http://blogs.edmunds.com/.ee9f3d2

My engine sludge argument is BS? Ok, let me play that game. Your 800,000 recalls or whatever from five years ago are complete BS.

1115, I guess I'll just have to keep saying it: GM is NEXT TO LAST in recalls this year -- VW, Toyota, Chrysler, Honda, and Nissan are the top 5. And look! The Big 3 Japanese are ALL on there.

And if you want to talk problems in the last decade - let's look at the sludge affecting 3.5 million Toys. I think that pretty much says it all

Another thing, you know what suprises me? The amount of time it took for Nissan to recall almost 400k vehicles, especially with such a minor, but possibly dangerous problem.

So why couldn't Nissan have recalled these vehicles sooner? Why couldn't Toyota and Honda made their recalls sooner? While tripleonefive talks about how many vehicles are recalled, what's important to me is the speed of which these recalls are made.

6-10 years is pure shame to me.

Japanese cars are the best cars out there. You can't buy a better car - they have consistenty proven their reliability. This article is just another proof of the reliability of all Japanese cars - as you can see they are the most realiable vehicles out there, domestics are trash.

Haha, I feel like I'm watching the typing of 12 year olds when I read through this. Every automaker has recalls.. some are more severe than others, and some are more numerous than others. Get over it.

My Nissan Altima is in the shop for $1400 worth of repairs right now if that helps anyone's argument. Failing tie rod, and struts and some other items are failing. Not to mention the electrical system is possessed.

Imagine that, Nissan has a recall so once again 1115 brings up GM's past to try and justify it. What are you trying to prove dude? The only thing you are proving is that you can't accept reality, and the reality is that the Imports are having far more recalls than the Domestics in are current day and age. While you are living in the past I am enjoying my new 08 Duramax that replaced my trouble free 02 Duramax!

grade school jokes from '98? wow you really dont have a sense of humor. i dont really remember what grade schoolers were saying back then, but i guess they were able to predict the future of Ford/Firestone since i commented on a problem they had in 2001.
if you didnt have your butt hole so puckered up, i wouldnt be having a argument with you on a joke.

my frontier had a recall for the rubber boot on the speed sensor, it didnt break down at all, i would have never known untill i took it in for service.
1997-2001, very interesting 1115 thats the same years gm had problems with its suppliers too, doesnt it seem to be a trend with outsourcing rather than any of the direct engineering the automakers put into their cars?

R-Head: straight truth

jJay: the Fluffer is a communist dog. he's bitter because this is the land of opportunity, not the land of handounts.

Also, I'll speculate that he hates domestics because the girl(?) of his jackoff fantasies ditched him at the prom for a guy in a camaro.

Of all the Nissan owners I've known, only one had a problem with his car, a Pathfinder. certainly a Blazer or Exploder of the same vintage would be a better truck.

Is it recall season, or what?

Ford was well aware of the problem of putting tires not rated to go on a truck like the Explorer on and also recommending a lower tire pressure for that truck then Firestone initially wanted. The tires were 7-10x more reluctant to fail on the Explorer than the lower weight Ranger.

plus i was trying to make a joke, but i guess you have your head so far up your own ass, you couldnt see that.
its called a sense of humor....go to your local Walmart and laugh at the people there to get your sense of humor back....putts

One thing I gotta love is how people (like sik59rt) blame Ford for tires sourced from Firestone (not owned by Ford), and yet when Honda had its big Civic recall a few weeks ago people excused Honda because the faulty part was bought from an outside supplier so it's not indicative of a Honda quality issue.

Autonut, Toyota, Honda, and Nissan do NOT sell more than 50% of cars unless maybe you dissect cars into specific subcategories. Add to that people rake on GM & Ford for common platform architectures all day, but when the imports do it then it is somehow "understandable" plus going by what I see on the road the Japanese cars are not serving longer lifespans than their US-make counterparts. I see plenty of 80s and early 90s domestic makes on the road each day, and proportionately quite a few more than I do older Toyotas and Hondas. Don't get me wrong - Toyota and Honda make good long-lasting cars also, but it is only a false perception (albeit a damaging and commonly-held one) that they are particularly better than Ford and GM.

Yeah... tripleonefive, have you sat in all four? The Durango seemed chunky to me, but I would rather take the Explorer in that day of age then a Nissan Pathfinder.

Yeah, GM recalled 2 million "old suvs" and vehicles too. It sounds like your making an exception when you say "well these are old SUV's and GM recalled 2 MILLION".

And very strong words to use. "Import hater patriotic ass" and a bunch of x's...

Now I buy whatever car suits me, and does the job best, but it seems like you have some problem with patriotism, that's ALL I ever hear coming from you.

Your just so damn negative, and sometimes even biased. You need to go find yourself something else to do in your freetime, get rid of this ego you seem to have, cool down. You don't have to try to sound threatening and absent from sanity to get a point out, not everyones disagreeing with you but damn... When you've got an ego like that, who's going to?

Toyota, Honda and Nissan will be affected by larger number of recalled vehicles for the following reasons:
1. They sell more then 50% of cars (statistically they should get more recalls, but Chrysler is managing to beat them selling less)
2. They utilize more of the common platform architecture then domestics, therefore when part fails in one model it will affect models with the same part. Just look at Nissan/Infinity recall.
3. Their cars are serving longer lifespans. One can argue that it is because quality only, but I would not agree with it. Secondary market for "foreign" brands commands higher price, which instills in new owner of an older vehicle some degree of responsibility. They maintain those vehicle better and as a result they last longer. Because domestic brands do not hold their price as well as "foreign" (which is misnomer since most them build right here on US soil) their new owners tend to maintain them less and cant afford expensive repairs which drives those vehicles into junk yard faster. That if owner does not drive it into the tree under influence of daemons, either liquid or smoked variety.

Ian, Toyota tops both Nissan and Honda - maybe even combined (although this recall is not on current model years so it doesn't count).

Anyway, add VW's incessant recalls to the list and the imports make a clean sweep of being the biggest pieces of crap out there besides Chrysler. It'll just take a few years for the non-objective folk out there to realize that their hatred of domestic makes is unfounded and costing them money. In the meantime I can still get great cars for less and bank a bit more.
