Then again, I suppose it’s also possible that Porsche don’t know how to drive their own cars, as well, and they could be much faster than even they know.

Even so it still is the ugliest car on the road today….ass end looks like a origamny folded box…. ill take a black Maserati granturismo s any day….dont care if it would be slower…..looks farking sexxy….

@ Nickkop, I understand what you’re saying about the driving dynamics but what is happening here is that they are able to get better times on the 911 Turbo which should, based on physics, be harder to control than the GT-R’s front midship engine design.

One last point. Porsche has over 26,000 victories in motorsport more than any other car manufacturer. So Nissan, don’t give me that BS that Porsche doesn’t know how to drive your car. As if there’s something so special about it.

Not to knock Nissan, but until proven wrong.. I too believe that there were non-stock parts and I read somewhere that they had a running start in the beginning of the the lap.

Porsche also does not run the factory stock tires on their cars. They usually use Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, which are practically R-Compound. The only car I’ll cut them slack on for that is the GT2 which does come with Sport Cup tires from the factory. But its those same tires that has much to do with the great performance numbers the GT2 puts up. I’d like to see what the GT2 would do with the same GoodYear runflats that the stock Z06 comes with. Considerably worse numbers, I can assure you.

Yep, that would be the faster class.

whips001: The Carrera GT is a totally different car it isn’t in the same class as the GT-R. The Carrera GT is in the same class as the Viper and Corvette. It is ridiculous to compare cars in different classes.

vincentvegas74: Wow! Let me guess American Muscle only cars right. A track like this take finess not all out brute force. So a Vette and Viper finishing this track in under 7.25 makes them great cars but in a totally different classes of cars than the Porsche and GT-R. Porsche and Nissan are at it with 2 cars that are relatively similar. Twin turbo, six cylinders (under 4.0L), mid-engine set-up, and AWD. I know the GT-R isn’t truely an AWD car, it is partial depending on the cars traction.

Now for those ignorant, irresponsible, Dosh-bag that street race, TAKE IT TO THE TRACK YOU DOSH!

you have to admit you would want your “baby” to win, if you were Porsche and spent so many millions in engineering and development, and had your historic reputation at stake while this “newcomer” (to Porsche) came to trounce you and snatch the throne.. Also with their driving style, they might just be very set in their ways, and closed-minded. Porsche style would be more like learn to control the car, while Nissan’s is control the car then let the computers have some control and dont lose your daring enthusiasm
