Nissan has released images of its Round Box (R.D/B.X) Concept ahead of the cars Tokyo Motor Show debut. Designed with the idea of open air motoring in mind, the Round Box offers “exhilaration for all passengers.” The Round Box also puts an emphasis on driver and passenger interaction.
According to Nissan, the Round Box is the “right sized space to facilitate communication between the four passengers.” The concept also has Nissan’s “Play Catch” system which allows passengers to share entertainment and driving information. Passengers can view the road passing beneath them via the concept’s road surface windows.

i agree lucklaster, at least this one has cooler options than the ones before, i like the idea of road-viewing windows, this is the one concept i’ve seen today that looks like it would fit in the near-future

This is why a Toyota has never graced my garage. I’d love to buy one of their cars for the reliability and quality but their styling just either puts me to sleep or turns my stomach. Obviously, this is not the case for many in the world as Toyotas are selling like hot cakes. I just wish they’d come up with something a) rear wheel drive or all wheel drive that’s not a truck, b) comes with a stick shift, c) is prices somewhere this side of $30,000 and d) has kick-ass styling. This thing sure isn’t it for me. I’ll keep waiting.

Their reliability and quality has gone down a bit plus the super soft suspension on their regular models put me to sleep literally. They make nice executive rental cars but definitely not for personal driving.

Other than the Honda CR-Z, the best of the concepts we’ve seen so far. Those white and orange swirl seats are funk-tastik; I wish we could get those into production. I couldn’t imagine Nissan trying to safety certify the surface window with a straight face…
The only problem is the name. I’m sure it probably sounds cool in Japanese, but it definitely loses something in translation (like the ‘Fairlady Z’).

I was driving down the motorway yesterday in my Jag and I suddenly felt a dying urge to look between my thighs and see the road below me. It struck me, right there, that there is nothing, nothing more entertaining in the world than seeing tarmac going past at 70 mph. It really is a beautiful sight, asphalt. I’m commissioning an artist to do me a painting of the M4 to hang on my wall. I’m going to buy the Nissan R.D/B.X, because I just have to look at that beautiful highway go past beneath my feet!
