I just bought a Sentra SR. I like ugly. Ugly is distinctive. Ugly is ahead of the curve. The Sentra CVT was the best performing AUTOMATIC at 16K$ (after discounts) that AVERAGES 29mpg! And it’s beautiful….inside (and that’s where I spend my time). It looks like a Passat and Cadillac CTS had a litter, and this was the runt. It’s Renault heritaged cabin evokes a mythological incongrous battle between the “sleeker, longer, lower wider” conventional crusaders and the 21rst Century Utilitarian types, with French knights manning the pragmatic castle shouting to the Sentra’s detractors “Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of Elderberries.” Midnight Sky forever!

Those headlights are the most beautiful things these eyes have ever seen. Just kidding. And that grille, man, I’m running out to get one of those right now. Cheap car. I don’t like Hondas in general, but the Civic is far better than this.

what;s wrong with the liquid motion? i think it looks nice! the new Z actually looks better depending on what color you get .. like the red or black or silver ones. the maxima is just pure beauty….best looking car out of the entire class…Azera, avalon, and lucerne can’t compete with the maxima! …well maybe the Azera but the maxima is sweet!

and that Murano… hands down the best looking crossover next to the Hyundai Veracruz

Nissan was totally wrong for this. Why make anything look like the Altima? The current model is a boring as a box of nails. Theres no excitement like when it was reintroduced in 2001. The Sentra was actually nice before the new 04 model was introduced. And why would anyone need a backup camera in a subcompact car anyways? Carmakers are totally confused these days. But I’m so glad it didn’t received the “liquid motion” style the Maxima and 370Z got.

This car is ugly. Actually most of Nissan’s designs are getting ugly. They are falling back into their 90s trap of boring. There are more Versas on the road than there are Sentras. In the Nissan line-up, in my opinion, that looks good are the Cube and GT-R.

Hopefully the new Altima is as much a step forward in quality and content (not styling) as the new Max to keep up with CamCord, Malibu and Fusion.

As far as this new Sentra goes, I guess they didn’t want to go ahead and put on the new styling language ahead of it’s big brother, but iIhope it doesn’t follow too far behind. I’m tired of this ho-hum Sentra style. The previous body style, bland as it was, was a way better looking car. ‘05-’07 SE-R with Brembos was a great looking ride.

Carmaster – the Altima gets its own grille tweak for 2010 and has been scheduled for replacement in 2011 with the ‘12 model (although my pals at Nissan are saying due to budget changes it may actually be pushed out to 2012 as a ‘13 model)

These compact cars don’t have to suck, Nissan! The last gen SE-R was a pretty nice little car and even with less than 200 hp, it was very quick and the 2002-2003 SE-R’s looked pretty decent. I had an ‘03 Protege5 from Mazda NEW for $15,000 and those came standard loaded. What’s wrong with the world today?

FPA, join the club. I also had a Sentra once in the early nineties. The two door thingy with the fastback. Not really sure what was going through my head at the time but I lasted a grand total of 5,000 kms before I dumped it for a new 5.0 ‘Stang. I think this was all around the time I got engaged which explains why the big head was only functioning sporadically.

That’s it? They added a grille to resemble the Altima which is due for a replacement very soon. The car needs a total refresh and they should start by getting rid of those old fashioned headlights.
I can still remember when the Sentra first came out as a lightweight subcompact that was kind of fun to drive and at one point outsold the Civic and Corolla. Nissan seems to have stopped chasing that dream

I was the proud owner of a 1990 Sentra 4 speed manual that took me over 160,000 miles. There is nothing compelling about this version.. I would choose a Mazda3 for looks and an Elantra for value. This is just kind of there for ignorant people who happen to walk on the lot. Probably the same way GM, Ford, and Chrysler sold their cars up until three years ago or so.

it’s all good, but this specimen is far from pretty and why do you design car in need of rear camera, instead of just providing better driver visibility?
