Nissan ’s storied Skyline nameplate started out life as a five-door wagon – among other body styles – and it looks as the though the franchise will be going back to its roots. Nissan revealed on Thursday that it will be marketing the Infiniti EX as the Skyline Crossover in the Japanese market.
Though Nissan’s press release was short on details, it appears as if the JDM Skyline Crossover will be a near carbon copy of the Infiniti EX37 offered in Europe. That means Nissan’s famed 3.7L VQ V6 will be underhood – tuned to about 300 horsepower – with the Skyline Crossover using Nissan’s new seven-speed gearbox. The Skyline Crossover is slated to hit the Japanese market this summer.

Nissan split the Skyline and GT-R nameplates in Japan years ago, with the Infiniti G coupe and sedan sold here carrying the Skyline banner in Japan since 2001. You might also recall that Nissan recently cancelled its plans to offer a four-door version of the GT-R under the Infiniti brand.
