Nissan to boost Altima production, reduce Titan, Armada production
06/09/2008, 2:41 PM
By Drew Johnson
In a move to better align its car, truck and SUV production with U.S. demand, Nissan announced on Monday that it will shift workers at its Canton, Mississippi truck and car plant to produce more Altimas and fewer large trucks and SUVs.
Beginning this September, the Japanese automaker will add a third shift to Canton’s Altima production line and will drop one of two shifts from the plant’s Titan pickup and Armada SUV lines.
During the month of May, Altima sales surged 43.6 percent, while Titan and Armada sales dropped 55.8 and 52.1 percent, respectively.
The shift should allow Nissan to produce about 2,000 additional Altimas per month. No changes are expected to be made at Nissan’s other U.S. Altima production facility — in Smyrna, Tennessee — as that plant prepares to begin production of the all-new Maxima sedan.

This is part of my entertainment, monkey … and you are illiterate. You are worthless … we have too many monkeys who don’t know the English language, we don’t need another like you.
I see you STILL haven’t learned the difference between ‘then’ and ‘than’. And you are posting as much as I am responding with fecal matter fired as frequently as a baby ****s itself.

I am impressed with Nissan’s designs, they definitely stand out in a crowd. I look forward to the diesels they are bringing here.

NoNameDenton1, Altima is not exactly Nissan’s own. There is remarkably similar Renault running in Europe.

autonut, I know the Renault you mean, but since Renault no longer sells in America, most buying public would not know, plus the engines are bit different and the suspension tuning, so it is good. olds307, the Altima is not a bad car for the money and is a pretty good drive.

NoNameDenton1, this is not site for buying public. Most of us know Renault and the rest of European lineup. There are guys here posting form Europe – they may not know Altima being kissing cousin to Laguna, but looking at pictures they can deduce what’s what. One of 3 or 4 Laguna suspension settings probably dead on to our Altima. Engines are different and we loose big time.

I personally consider the quality of the Uglima interior plastics to be sub-Caliber (as in Dodge Caliber). That’s pretty bad.

mayer_ray_nagin, why everyone is complaining about plastic? It is like a new religion: quality of plastic. I was not offended by plastic in Aveo and we all know it not BMW. You rarely touch the plastic, it is just sits there. I don’t drive Altima or any Nissan for that matter for 20 years and I am sure that all plastics today are much better then 20-30 years ago. Morgan did not have have any plastic: it had wooden board with instrument holes drilled in and screwed to it. I had Camry with OK plastic (nobody complained about it in automotive press) but it had horrible rattle, that Toyota could not fix (including regional service rep). SInce then I learned to put stereo louder. After all you drive a car: engine, transmission, suspension, tires. Lets leave quality of plastic to interior decorator blog
.

‘Hemiroid’, I post FACT. You are worthless. Here’s some MORE fact to shove up your ass … “The Altima Coupe, as part of the fourth-generation Altima design, utilizes Nissan’s all-new, highly acclaimed “D” platform with increased body rigidity and a redesigned suspension. This new platform was developed with the objective of making Altima one of the best performing large front-wheel drive vehicles available globally.”
And you worked for the supplier? As a floor cleaner, ****face.
I own you.
