Nissan debuts Mixim concept

Nissan has debuted its Mixim concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Mixim concept is a compact vehicle that uses a center-mounted driver’s seat with passenger seats flanking both sides and gull-wing style doors. Targeting the youth market, the Mixim features a computer-inspired interior layout highlighted by a center-mounted LCD screen that can display a virtual representation of the front wheels that actually turns in real time with steering inputs.

The Mixim also uses an all-electric powertrain. Powered by Nissan’s “Super Motor,” the system features two lithium-ion powered motors, one to drive the front wheels and one to power the rear. This system is unique in the way it uses two drive shafts to power the left and right wheels independently. Nissan claims the Mixim tops out at 111 mph and can go 155 miles between charges.

The one in the picture looks crappy and very Scion-like (which isn’t a good thing in my book)

Cute. But in the end they will produce a 2002 Sentra and make us vomit.

What is the point of that concept? Nissan’s teaming up with the Power Rangers now?

why.. i mean why.. make stupid concepts like this!”they’re never gonna get built.. and if cars in the next 20 years do look like this.. well it will be the end of the car industry!! Stick to making real cars!!

I think I drew this car when I was four, before I knew anything about proportion and style.

What the bloody hell are these????? I hate when manufacturers make stupid cars like this and have absolutely no future in production. Is this their way of saying we have too much money now? Cause if they have that much money and free time they could give to charity or, more importantly, give it to me :)

What happened to that Fuse concept? That was a lot better than either of these douchemobiles.

I like the Mixim, but the other one looks like a Hello Kitty-Car for Japanese schoolgirls. Wait, maybe that was the point of the concept in the first place…

Hahaha, I think car companies design ugly concepts like the Mixim knowing they will never go into production but if another car company design’s a car with a very similar look/section the concept’s car maker can sue. Kind of like a “Patent” rofl. Then again, the designers as be high as hell to come up with crazy stuff like this. The Micra though is fairly appealing, to the like of a mini cooper crossed with a VW Beetle.

The current Micra is actually pretty cool. I’d take it any day over a Mini or a Smart or Yaris or Fit. It’s not necessary in the same segment as those, but to me that whole segment is lumped together as “small, fuel efficient, city transport” and the coolest rides in it are not available stateside (Cinquecento, Micra, Mazda2). If Ford cranks out that Fiesta Concept maybe there will be something interesting there.

Nissan has blind designers working for them which is typical for Nissan as every car they make is hideous including Infiniti.

R-Head: i’d take the Micra over just about anything that size and price.

sunshine: I disagree. While the current regular nissans all look like appliances (even the underrated Titan), the datsuns are all beautiful. Especialy the G35 4-door and the M35

All I can say about the Mixim is “How bizarre, How bizarre!” It looks like a reject helmet design for Darth Vader.

The Micra looks pretty cool for what it is.

Stupid. Why do these car companies put out outlandish concepts? IF they’re not going to follow through on them, why waste the money and piss the public off?
